Team PKR Pro James ‘James666’ Sudworth last night scooped a cool $54,777 after battling his way through a field of over a thousand competitors to finish in seventh place in the WSOP $2,500 No Limit six-handed event (event #19).
After three days of gruelling play, the Kent based player finally succumbed to Joe Serock, when his pocket threes lost to ace-five suited in a tense showdown. Sudworth came agonisingly close to making the final table with Serock’s ace hitting on the river to take him out.
The seventh place finish represents Sudworth’s best ever WSOP finish and was all the more sweet after he outlasted some of the world’s best pros and bracelet winners, including Howard Lederer, Erick Lindgren, Andy Black, Erik Siedel, Mike Caro, and Bertrand Grospelier. The 22 year old is fast gaining recognition on the poker circuit and adds this latest triumph to a second place finish in the GUKPT Brighton earlier this year.
The camaraderie between the recently formed Team PKR Pro members seems to be growing all the time and James felt the confidence boost given by fellow Team PKR Pro player Andrew ‘golfpro84’ Teng before the event buoyed him on, “Going into the tournament Andrew Teng told me I had a good shot. The first table I sat at was unbelievably soft so I used a lot of aggression I learned from cash games to build up a nice stack early on. It gave me a lot of confidence and by midday yesterday it felt like I knew I was going to win it.” said James666.
Renowned for his jovial approach at the felt, James666 continued his tradition of buying a round of Jägerbombs for everyone seated at his table. The liquid injection seems to have had a positive effect on the outcome, helping him to the best World Series finish recorded by a Team PKR Pro member to date.
