Abusive/innapropriate? Report this post.

ok so the story is i started gambling about 2 weeks ago and lost around £200 playing roulette and blackjack on another site so then i decided to learn and play poker around 2 weeks ago to try and win back my losses, i deposited 80 and was doing really well then i dropped to 30 but got back to 85 then dropped so i played on quite high stakes table won back but then i played against this guy and i lost to a four of a kind i had a flush and lost all my money feel terrible just need to get this out.

Ok so after that i deposited what was left in my bank £25 and becasue of my mood i wasted it really quckly, i dunno i feel really bad. really really low right now, in a bad place.

i know its not super high amounts like the high roller but to me this is a massive loss, sigh.

Thats gambling for you my friend. Ive been where you are before many times before i found my 'swich off button' lol.

Its so so easy to start off with an amount, go down a bit on it and up your stakes to try and get back to that level and increase that level, which is what we all set out to do.

Chasing your money, its so easy to do. I learned to take a time out, even though you are craving to keep going and win back your money, just try and switch off the pc and do something else , take a breather until you can get outta that 'tilt' mode which makes you more loose and you arent thinking straight. Next thing you know you have lost the lot. Take a break and come back when you are in a better frame of mind beleive me its well worth it.

Blackjack and roulette....not for me....especially playing against a computer, i mean i may be wrong but casinos are bad enough for these games and i would advise anyone to steer clear of them but thats just my opinion.

As for Poker, at least you are playing other people and there is much more skill involved. If you have only been playing a couple of weeks i would advise you to get practice in on the play money tables, or even $0.02 /$0.04 tables first. There are a lot of good experienced players out there so read up on Poker, play and practice and get some experience behind you before you start to think about making money. PKR has a great poker school and lots good stuff to improve your game.

Remember its meant to be fun mate so just be careful and keep your chin up. Hope this maybe helped you.

Good luck Happy

P.S. mate, put any threads like this in the PKR Lounge. Some people get upset if the posts dont relate to the topics lol Wink

Best advice i can give is this:
Never play for money you cant lose.
Never ever EVER play to gain back your losses.

good point from cemyles, stay away from online casinos lol atleast with poker you have some controll, although it does still involve some luck

my only advise is if your feeling bad from losing then you should find a way to let out your emotions some other way as they will effect your game, pump some weights, bash on the xbox/ps3 ? i usually cba with the gym just because im pissed i lost, although id look like big arny by now if i did with the amount of times i do lose lol

battlefield 2 for me! its like £10 and one of the best online multiplayer shooter games!

^ All this ^

and read up on bankroll management. Roll at the table = bad. Mind you that while blackjack and roulette are sure-fire ways of losing your money, poker is a game of skill. 2 weeks... not long enough to start bringing your roll to nosebleed stakes. Learn the game if you want to make a profit!

Good man, your losses are not that big in comparison to a lot.. I suggest reading a few books and watching some youtube videos but most of all I recommend bankroll management, took me 2 years to understand this.. I hope it takes you a shorter time.

My advice is to play with a minimum of 20xbuy ins at each level, go up and down the limits as your bankroll allows.

Good luck!

You are showing real signs of gambling addiction. You are playing higher stakes ( beyond what you can afford ) as you feel this gives you the quickest way to win back what you have lost.

Over time, the losses will get bigger and the stakes higher !

Get a grip whilst you can !!!

Hey just wana say what an awesome reply from Cemyles. I learnt how to play poker only 4 months ago won a little then found out the hard way about the effects of tilt and by the end of it had nothing in my PKR account. Now just keep a real tight bankroll quit all ring games which I find brings my tilt out and just play freerolls whenever I can aswell as ultra low stakes SNG's with say one $5 buy-in tournament each week if i'm feeling my games up to it. Feel like i'm playing my best poker now that I know, realise and have accepted my own limitations.
