As you all know that i have been here on PKR now for over a year and love for this game for about 5 years now, and believe i have some knowledge of this wonderful game. But I have dicided from today to start from the very beginning and yes call myself a Noob, and with a recent win fall (thanks to Poker), i was able to go out and get his brilliant laptop, so now i can spend more time at the tables and on the fourms here on PKR. Why i want to do this?
Well i believe we can all say that we have took on some real bad beats playing poker and we know in our minds we have played our best. But there are so many players out there that are willing to give up their chips for hands that we would never think of playing and then to see them win, well Sweeney Todd pops into my mind by thinking about slitting my own throat
And there is no point in slagging of other players or what i have seen players do is to slag of PKR for games being fixed. lol muppets
So I am willing to go out there in this massive ocean of PKR, as a Noob and start my own article (like the guys in the PokerPlayer mag, i would love to do that full time, and yes that is one of my life goals, being a Poker Journalist) and report my findings here in the beginner section of this fourm. Why write this in the beginning section of this fourm? LoL have you seen the Players now signed up to PKR, I am sure that i dont have to mention their names as we all know that they are some of the top players in the world, and here on PKR, lol dont YOU feel like a Noob. Well i suppose if i am luckly enough to have Discomonkey, James666, GolfPro, Ashley Hannes, The Squeeze and some of the big names here on PKR (we all know who they are) read this, then I am sure they have the confidence to say " jack, I dont think so mate. And who can blame them
and with the bad beat i took the other day, both of my hands are now up in the air, and with a cry "Start again you idot"
But now "I am a Noob" and proud to say it and know that one day i will be up there with these guys, looking back at the posts i have written, thinking wow i can add my name now (SmokingJack). Will I do it? I cannt see why not. I believe i have the same passion as these great players and now being blessed with being able to spent more time here, lol all day if i can help it. i can and now will put the time in.
I believe the main thing i must learn is Patience. This is what i believe iam failing in. So true what Chris Ferguson said in a ad, "Poker is a game of Patience and right time aggression" lol the aggression is there, but Patience i must and will learn. The poker school that is available here on PKR is brilliant and the content is massive, so more studying is part of my time table, and i will write about the acticles I have read, and found really helpful in my new game plan.
Each week i will try my very best to make my post interesting and hopefully helpfull for all Us Poker Noobs out there.
So until next time, I wish you all the very best on the tables, take care
SmokingJack
p.s These posts that i will be writting, are for entertainment, because i love being here on the fourms, I want to be a Pro one day and if i do make it, I be so pleased if i can help other players out as well. i will not Slag of other players or PKR.
So if you enjoy reading this and others to come then thanks guys, or if you dont and think i am wasting my time or space here on PKR then LoL You dont have to read it
Oh yes one other thing if my English is bad as i have been told before with other posts i have written then i am truly sorry and promise i will improve with time and experience

I will read your input with interest though i will always be a noob as Poker is only a hobby for me, one which I really enjoy, win lose or draw.
It's always nice to see something new in the "beginners" section.
P.S. your English seems fine to me but then again I'm from Northern Ireland and maybe not the best judge.

Im intrigued as to see how this goes, you definitly have a passion for the game.
So how are you going to go about it? Are you going to build a bankroll or just chance your arm and see how it goes?
I keep a poker journal as well but tend to use it more for live games as the note taking ability on PKR is far more superior to my short hand.

My goal is to turn my bankroll into $10,000 within a year, enter PKR Live next year. Turn this passion into a full time career, and in 2 years time enter myself into the WSOP.
The reason for this post and others to come, is to report openly to everyone at PKR my progress and if i can help other players reach thier goal as well then that to will be brilliant.
I have a massive task in front of me, there be so many hours needed, studying and bad beats to look forward to. But I have to do this as i have made a promise to Myself, Friends and more importantly My Family, that I can reach the top of MY Game and not be a Loser anymore. Life for us has not been great and if God willing I do make it, I want to change thier lives because they really do deserve it.
So as you see, I am not doing this for me, But for my family. God Bless Them All.
I hope this answers your question, Thanks SBPhoenix1987
p.s this is not a sob story, no need to say "poor Bloke" i am sure we all havent had a easy life.
but my Family do fuel my dream

Nice post sir, I'll follow this thread with interest as it seems you have a lot of ambition and guts to follow your dreams.
GL @ the tables mate
p.s your english is very good, especially as you say it's not your 1st language. A small piece of advice though - make sure you put spaces between your paragraphs if you write big posts, makes it easier to read

I have to say that i am so sorry that i have not kept up with this post as i promised. But i have been hard at work at the tables and found most of my time taken up there. But good news is that i had a brilliant win that has put my bankroll back on track, when at one stage i thought oh no is this really time for me to top up.
Then being really outstaged by INEEDYOURCHIPS post on this sort of subject, i knew when i am beat, so i thought i would retreat and leave it to the professionals
Great luck to you all at the tables
yours always
SJ
p.s look out for INEEDYOURCHIPS post, it is brilliant and i wish him all the very best with his goal

Dude that doesnt mean you shouldnt write about your journey too!!
I found it really refreshing to see someone with such enthusiasm for the game instead of it solely being about money.
Why not start a blog or continue with what you are doing here as it is a good way to let out your thoughts on bad days and also the good days.
It will keep you focused on your long term goal.
I hope you take what i have said onboard.

I also think you should continue to post.
If all we got was input from "the professionals" it would be a very bland world. IMHO

Blogs - always a great idea at the time but with the best intentions and greatest will in the world they're just so difficult to sustain / maintain.
I tried this once when "relaunching" my online poker career - was doing the 6max SnGs and doing ok to average for a bit. I even unlocked my sharkscope graph to show credibility and honesty!
Tried to persuade myself that I would keep it going no matter what but soon hit a bad run and abandoned it. I think the point is, the inevitable bad run is so disheartening, the last thing you want to do is tell the whole community about it and relive it again and again.
