lol, funny how you just proclaimed that poker was all about luck at my table and then I stumble upon this thread!happy

A hand in hold em is made out of 5 cards; the best possible combination of 5 cards made from both your hole cards and the cards on the board.

There were 2 pairs on the board, 55 and 66. This means that you both had 2 pair. Your 44 was meaningless here because it's a smaller pair than the other two, so it's not part of the best possible combination.

Considering you both have 2 pair, it's the kicker that makes the difference. The ace being the highest kicker, your opponent wins the pot.

If, for example, you were holding 77, then you would have won the hand with 2 pair, sevens and sixes, five kicker.

You didn't have 44 by the river.

You make the best 5 card hand from the 5 community cards and your 2 hole cards.

So at the end, you both had two pair (5s and 6s) - the 4s you had at the end didn't count for anything.

His final hand was 6-6-5-5-A, which beat your 6-6-5-5-4.

I really suggest you read up on the game buddy - download the guide from the Raise Your Game section as a starting point.

oh okay blud.

yeah as Modge explain. your pocket 4's is no good on these type of board. kicker comes into play if your opponent didnt hit either. 6655A beat your 66554.

anyway GL with your poker game dude.

level, levelling : verb or noun. A joke or comment not meant to be taken seriously, but presented in a serious manner
