How to extract out of game info.

How do you go about getting info out of players that you think may help you in the game? Do you bother?

If you're going to be sat at a table for a long time, is it worth asking questions?
Hey, how're you?
" In a fookin bad mood "
" I'm fantastic... great poker day "
" My wife just left me "....

What are you after?

Does that kind of stuff help you or is it just a bit too far?

If you find someone is a skint student ( like myself ) with no real money other than whats in poker ( earnt it )... are you going to bet into him and push him off hands you know he can't call because he needs the cash of the next place for his beans in the morning?

im usually v chatty at a live table for this exact reason. the answers r irrelevant. ur looking for clues on emotional state, how much the money means to them, ego size, inebriation, experience, etc. be sure to be the one asking ques tho, not answering them. the sooner u paint a picture of the pple ur playing the greater ur edge will be.

and yes, i wud be bullying tht student around as soon as i see hes capable of folding

You can also get a wealth of information on players by getting their reaction to how other people have played hands. That is something I find very useful in a live game.
And yes to your question. If someone is playing scared, you have to take advantage.

I don't think people will discuss that because it goes too deep psychologically and will represent a huge part of their play against particular people..then the shit will hit the fan if they read it.

Satfat said what I would've though, always be the person asking -- or only answer if you can be guarded enough to give no emotion away. LOL usually works
