Anyone else found this problem too? Playing nothing but retards and idiots completely stunts your ability to develop your game? I've been stuck donking about at about the same level of thought for months now - playing noone above level 1 means you simply don't get the experience of thinking at level 3+. I occasionally have a great game with one of the cash regs where we play sexy poker, or when playing with friends or live in quality fields, but the fields here are so mediocre it's just a case of rinse and repeat the same old mentally unchallenging crap.

Not that it's a bad thing necessarily - bad people are easier money. But doesn't anyone else wish they could actually challenge their game a bit more instead of being obliged to forever only think one step above retards, which is still effectively level 1-2.

In contrast, playing stunted, thought-dead pros like you guys has helped my game no end!

Cheers!

Yesterday i had an unbelievable great phase 1 game unlucky i bubbled 3th place with 7 people left wheni was on 240 chips.
But an phase 1 running 1 hour and 30 minutes can u believe that ?

It was great final 3. I never had such good game since my pkr open win. Then when i play other its always the same unlucky donk retard shit.

So far i only will play when i play against known normal nice people which play at higher levels darnit

i know what you mean chiv, though i am guilty of fancy play syndrome and trying to pull of level 3 plays on level 1 players. for the moment, i'm just working on getting a roll big enough to take shots at higher level thinking games, because i really want to improve my game past the stakes i play at atm.

"if you cant beat the level ones chiv dude, then thats where u belong"

I can, it just gets monotonous though.

My underlying contention, basically, was that whilst playing for money is all well and good, the other reasons I play - the personal growth, the mental satisfaction etc. - just ain't what it used to be.

And "moving up" isn't really an option in MTTs ... not that it makes a difference. Even if they had a masters on every night it'd still be filled with the same low level dross (maybe like 5% better).

Plus "moving up" on PLO8 cash is impossible given I'm the one solely seeding the higher stakes games. Effectively impossible to get more than .50/1 running.

Not that I really need much mental stimulation for that ... PLO8 cash is a bit of a mindfuck and arguably requires less levelled-thinking because the equity edges are so much smaller, the decisions less important, yada yada.
