I'd say you'd need a dedicated graphics to get a better experience yes Happy

My PC is 5 years old and handles PKR just fine, I paid a lot for it when I bought it though.

Just get any semi-modern laptop/PC and you will be ok. You dont need a dedicated graphics card but if you are going to buy 2nd hand you should be careful, like I said...any half modern laptop should be able to handle it.

laptops find it very hard to run PKR, its very heavy on the memory and groahics, my partner has a laptop 2yrs old has a 212meg graphics card and i have to run it on low detail and even then its no smooth. my personal desktop is only a few weeks old, it has a 1.5gig gaming card and is dual core processor so obviously it runs pkr on max everything.
if u only want a laptop the min specs that would run PKR fine i would say would be....
(min requirements)
2.3GHz - 512meg graphics card - 500gig HD. at least that will get u by as pkr will always be updating and increasing there graphics as time goes on, hence gettin something that will do for now might be running pkr slow in 6months time. But those specs will get u by,
try get a desktop too if u can waayyyy cheaper and better running.

I agree with WPT, get a desktop, you get more for your money.

If it all seems a bit technical to you then the best approach would be simply go to a shop and ask for a PC/Laptop that you can run games on and tell them your budget, they should sell you the appropriate gear. If you are going to spend 500 or more you should be able to get something decent. Be wary of adverts on TV that seem to offer great deals, adverts for Del for example...on the surface they look good but they tend to lack in certain areas, theres nothing bad about them but they are cheap for a reason. This is what I put in my computer about 3 months ago:

But I have overclocked my GFX card so it runs closer to the 295 than the 285.

I also put a i7 quad core processor, 6gb of RAM, and a couple of terrabytes of HDD space.

And yes, It runs PKR fine.

My laptop is a Toshiba Satelite Pro300 which has been around a good few months now so you could pick one up for about £250-£300 (maybe cheaper) with an onboard card which in low detail runs PKR like a dream and has a nice big 17inch screen which is good for the old eyeballs at 4 in the morning.
Theres better out there but your gonna pay lots more for a dedicated gaming machine.
Heres a link to one on ebay if its any use

Although Aleinware is very very good, it's also expensive, as is anyhting from Dell, PC world, Currys etc. Avoid all thse places.

Go on ww.novatech.co.uk and get it from there, they;re very good.

In general you'll just want alot of memory for running pkr and other apps smoothly, atleast 2GB DDR, ideally 4GB

to be honest thats two questions. to play with all the graphics being perfect, read above, to just PLAY...

I can play with slightly slow graphics (but game play is fine, livable) on an acer Netbook. 1.6Ghz, 1 gig ram, no graphics card.
