Ok i don't have the hand history atm coz im on a different comp but here's an outline of a hand i played last nigh in the deepstack and after i played it was told that im pretty much a complete idiot and dont know how to play poker.

my startin stack 18,000
vilain 17,000

blinds 300/600

im dealt 1010 utg

raise 1500, vilain re raises 2400 utg +1 table folds round to me. i put him on a big pair AA, KK, i call

Flop KQ8 rainbow i check vilain checks, i believe he's hit trip K's and slow playing.

Turn 10 i still believe hes got Trip K's so i check again. He does the same.

River 10 because i've believed he's got KK here i just shove 15k into about a 5k pot thinkin there's no way he is folding that. Well he does fold then tells me im an idiot for betting so much into the pot.

What i want to know is, given my train of thought (be it right or wrong) would anyone else have done the same? or was it truly a complete donk move?

I think if he had trip Kings for sure he would bet the turn so a 3K bet woulda been more appropiate here.

I would put him on AQ or JJ from the way he played this. You need to value bet the river when you have the nuts, not "bluff" people off it lol. By his reaction it sounds like he would have paid at least 3-5K to see your cards.

after i posted this i walked home from work. on the way home i realised the massive errors on my play, wish i thought these things before i played the way i did or even before i made this post lol. obviously by the turn he didnt have trip kings, but if i had value bet the river and he DID in fact have what i thought he had chances are would have re raise me, in which case all the chips were going in the pot anyway but also if i had just value bet the river i also leave the option for him to try and bluff if he does have a weaker hand then kings and he may think he can get me off the pot. by pushing in i've only given myself 1 hope n thats he actually has the hand i think he has...i might not be spot on there but i think its a big improvement on my original thoughts.

the reason i called the pre flop raise is coz i had 1500 in already and it was 900 more to call when the pot was at 4800 plus antes on top of that i win 1/4 times and got over 5-1 on my money plus possibly the rest of his stack if i hit. and if i do completely miss its easy to fold and have plenty still to play with.

This is FAR better thinking. You found the fault in your own play, and found a better way to think about the situation...that is poker learning in action....well done!
