Home to twenty eight casinos, including the world’s largest (The Venetian Macau), Macau recently overtook Las Vegas as the highest volume gambling location in the world. As if that alone wasn’t enough to tempt any poker player, this August will also see it play host to a leg of the 2009 Asian Poker Tour (APT).
Expanded from last year following the explosion of poker in Asia, this year’s APT Macau will run for twelve days and feature a range of side events before the $4,300 main event.
It looks set to attract some big names in the game – last year drew the likes of Doyle Brunson, Johnny Chan and Liz Lieu while the Poker Pack of JC Tran, Steve Sung, Chino Rheem, Quinn Do and Nam Le have also confirmed their attendance.
Last year’s APT Macau was a big success for PKR players with Team PKR Pro Henrik ‘pokey85’ Eklund taking down the bounty side event and online qualifiers Arnemike and maniville both cashing in the main event for $8,250.
Satellites to the APT Macau are running now with at least one $6,500 package up for grabs in our weekly final on Mondays. Buy-in direct for $325 or qualify for as little as $4.20.
We hope to see you there – it’ll be a blast!
