I’ve always been told that it’s “better to be lucky than good”.
This was my mantra last night and undoubtedly led to my victory in the big bounty event.
I had little to lose and nothing to gain, but beating 726 other players left a sweet taste in my mouth nonetheless.
Those who watched me wipe out player after player with questionable hands might suggest the result owed more to luck than judgement. In my defence I have been running pretty bad in MTTs of late and always felt a good result was just around the corner. I will therefore take any goodwill the poker gods wish to throw my way. Granted, this will be of absolutely no consolation to those I wiped out. Sorry whiskymac, I can and should apologise for my A5 push turning your AA to dust – what a beautiful river!
With fortune on my side, pushing with T2 off suit heads-up seemed like a good idea. I mean, if it’s good enough for Doyle, it's good enough for me. Seeing lvgaraislv call - who ironically had A5 - didn’t look too bad because i knew i was live; a Ten on the flop was enough for me to double up and push on towards victory. Always the crowd pleaser, that is exactly what I did.
Whilst the players who watched that final table might refer to me as PKR_Luckbox from now on, I would like to think that my aggressive final table style set me up for the victory I well deserved.
This at least is what I will tell myself as I bask in the glory of what will undoubtedly be the greatest $0 I ever won!
PKR FTW!
