Luckily it is not only at the tables that I can work on improving my game. I have two amazing resources available to me - my colleagues and my iPod.
My role here at PKR Towers means I get to meet everyone here on a fairly regular basis, and of course the number one topic of discussion is poker! Being able to talk about hands is invaluable and I nearly always leave a co-worker’s desk thinking about how I played in a whole new way. Not everyone is as lucky as I am in having several former professional players a mere stroll away, but I am sure you can all think of poker friends who will be only too happy to furnish you with their thoughts.
iPods are not just for looking cool at the table, there are a cornucopia of podcasts to be downloaded and digested during those long stints on the treadmill or cross-trainer. Many of the poker training sites contain material that can be listened to while on a run. It doesn’t all have to be strategy either, just listening to something like the Two Plus Two podcast or Poker Road radio can keep you tuned into that poker lifestyle.
Something I nearly forgot to mention that I have with me wherever I go is my brain. You can replay hands in your mind at almost any time, thinking about how you could gotten more value, or maybe how you should have read more strength in your opponent will help you play better next time you are in a similar situation. I can lose myself deep in a hand while running, or sitting on a bus. Although I wouldn’t recommend it when skydiving .
