I've discovered the gym ... and mowing the lawn, mowing the neighbour’s lawn - anything to release some energy! My game this last month has gone to the dogs, I’m playing way too aggressively at the tables and donkin’ off chips left right and centre. It’s got to stop!
I woke up this morning, sat down a my usual haunt the $2/$4 tables, $3/$6 tables and within 30 minutes found myself three betting most pots pre-flop (with air I might add) then making pointless continuation bets on the flop when I knew was beat and having to fold to re-raises, Grrrrr….
I’ve been watching too much high stakes poker and Tom Dwan and thinking how easy it is to make moves, but of course he’s God and on a different planet. Part of my problem (I think) is that my bankroll is much too big for the levels I play. That makes me feel I can gamble and bully in situations where I have no reason to do so, at the end of this week I will reduce my roll and hopefully get back to basics.
Meanwhile on another subject, I played the GUKPT in Manchester last weekend and looking back now think I played way too tight. Three hands in the first three hours, K-K, K-K, A-Q - in which I took down all pots on the flop. Then I was then moved to a table which included Paul ‘action’ Jackson, Mickey Warnock and an aggressive Swede. I found myself been three bet any time I made moves for the blinds. This lasted ‘till late in day one but had to make a move with pocket 8’s as the blinds were rising fast and I ran into a set of 4’s. Not to worry though – I was happy enough with my play and its all experience gained.
So hopefully you will see a new callmebabe at the tables, with a few targets to reach (and some iron pumping to boot!).
Til the next time, gl at the tables.
