So much for an aggressive start. It's been an up and down day - I dropped down to 6,500 chips after the first two levels. I had Andy Bradshaw at my table and he was playing a lot of pots with me, sucking out on the river most of the time. Anyway a hand comes up, blinds 150-300. I had A6 in the CO and I raised it up. Andy called in the big blind, we were both even in stacks with about 8K. The flop came J 6 4, he checked and I checked back. Turn was a 6, he lead out for 900 and I made it 2K to play. He insta-shoved all-in for about 7K. Happy days - I called, A6 vs. AT.
With that pot, I started to bully the table, increasing my stack to 28K in no time without showing down any hands. The table splits and I was moved to a table with some aggressive players, so I decided to sit back for a while and only play decent cards. Blinds were 300-600 and I had 25K, and was dealt KK under the gun. I limped and sure enough the maniac on the button made it 1,800 to play. Mickey Wernick called from the BB, so I pumped it up to 4K more. Maniac on button called with a stack of 20K behind. The flop came A 4 9 - always the same isn’t it? Not wanting to check, I lead out for 5,200, he shoved and I had to fold my cowboys, sick!
Near the end of Day 1, I actually built my stack up again stealing pots and general he-who-bets-wins poker. I clawed back to about 30K with blinds at 400-800/50. I got 66 on the button and raised it up to 2,400 and the SB blind shoved all-in for 13K. Now this might look like an easy fold but the guy had been all-in three times already by shoving over a raise with 22, 33 and JT, so I think 'OK, I don’t mind if I’m racing here with two overs'. If I win I'll be in a strong position on Day 2 to push forward. So I go ahead and make the call, and he turns over AA - horror. Well they hold up, leaving me with a stack of 15K or so for Saturday. That means a busy from the off for me, so I'll just and see how things go.
Till later all the best.
