By PKR_Danski on Thursday 9 Jul 2009 15:00

Tough times for inhabitants of North America's vast but popular holiday destination, as five of the six CPC events were claimed by Europeans. Canada was well-respresented in the final tournament with the top two prizes going to the home nation...

CPC #1 $4K GTD NL Hold'em (6 seater)

Date: 02 July 2009 01:00 GMT
Buy-in: $30
Runners: 183
Champion: KAZAOU - $1,372

Only one Canadian, SeNdErPoT, lined up at the final table of the opening CPC tournament, and as the first player out, got the home nation off to a modest start. Sweden's KAZAOU - a self-confessed 'donk wno plays 10 hours a day' - emerged victorious with the first ever PKR Canadian Poker Championship title and $1,372. British runner-up 10matty took home $823 with Frenchman dreamfactory filling third place.

CPC #2 $2K GTD PL Omaha

Date: 03 July 2009 01:00 GMT
Buy-in: $12
Runners: 128
Champion: TheThimster - $540

Dane TheThimster, owner of a $10K win back in April 08, claimed the second CPC title (and the only non-Hold'em event) after a tense heads up exchange with Romanian guzzyman19. The final table was dominated by French players, with Canadians filling only one seat - scary777 who finished seventh.

CPC #3 $5K GTD NLHE Rebuy (6 seater)

Date: 04 July 2009 01:30 GMT
Buy-in: $8
Runners: 227
Champion: r1doudou - $1,260

The 227-strong field created 293 rebuys and 110 add-ons for a prize pool of $5,040, most of which went to the pockets of Frenchman r1doudou, whose victory was also his first cash in any PKR MTT! Runner-up, the Italian DonnieJackMala added to his recent Open 2nd place finish and Daily $17K win. Canadians missed out on the big cash, with only fifth place hailing from the land of maple and mounties.

CPC #4 $10K GTD NLHE Main Event (Deep Stack)

Date: 05 July 2009 01:00 GMT
Buy-in: $100
Runners: 113
Champion: JazzFunkMaster - $3,051

The CPC flagship attracted 113 runners for a prize pool of $11,300, and featured several faces at the final table. PKR Live II finalists Rocken1900 and gladium both fought hard, finishing third and tenth respectively. However it was Dutchman JazzFunkMaster, beating matan55 heads up, who claimed the CPC Main Event title and $3,051. Canadians made up 4th, 5th, 6th and 9th places. Watch how the action unfolded on PKR TV when this final table airs soon!

CPC #5 $5K GTD NLHE Double Chance

Date: 06 July 2009 00:00 GMT
Buy-in: $40
Runners: 134
Champion: TiltGod - $1,447

A first four-figure score on PKR for the German champ, who defeated Fuzzardation heads up. Highest placed Canadian was Micheal774 who departed in fourth place. The 'home nation' made up 4/10 of the final table seats. Go Canucks...

CPC #6 $3K GTD Deep & Steep (6 seater)

Date: 07 July 2009 01:00 GMT
Buy-in: $20
Runners: 193
Champion: Godknowswho - $965

A better showing in the final event saw a Canadian one-two as Godknowswho emerged with a CPC title. Runner-up scary777 was denied a CPC win on his fourth visit to a CPC final table, impressive form from the Ontario resident.

Thanks to PKR for organizing this, and hopefully we'll actually have, you know, Canadians entering it next time!
