Get inside the mind of a pro

PKR Pro Ashley Hames walks you through his Primetime #4 victory

Ashley Hames

How it works...

After his win in the $20,000 GTD Prime Time #4 Terminator (6 seater) on 29 October we asked PKR Pro Ashley Hames to go through every single hand history of the tourney and share his decions with us.

Why did he raise?

Why did he fold?

What decisions went into the actions that saw him beat off hundreds of other players and take first prize?

This is a rare opportunity to 'watch over his shoulder' as a player takes down a big online tournament. And at 372 hands long and weighing in at nearly 100,000 words, it's also E-P-I-C!

So big thanks to Ashley for taking the time to sit down and go through his thought process. It was a huge amount of work, but serious tournament players - and most certainly Ashley's opponents - will find it fascinating reading (even the UTG rag hands that get folded with a huffy 'Garbage!').

And it's all right here.

Be sure to let us know what you think - and whether 'Every hand revealed' is something you'd like to see more of on PKR...

I really like this, i like the fact that you show EVERY hand (Unlike silent dreamer), so you get a feel of the percentage of hands played, folded and raised. I do agree with the fact that it'd be easier to play it as a video. I know with Universal Replayer, there is the option to comment on hands, is it possible to put the hand history and comments in to a file that you could load in to that? Just a suggestion!

Reading it now (the wonders of being too ill to work today - blurgh), it seems interesting but my two initial thoughts are:
1) This would be better as a TV Tournament style video playback with commentary, much faster to immediately take in the information that way, although not as easy to skip back and forth in I'd admit.

2) I'm not sure the obvious junk hands are necessary except to retain continuity through the tournament - do we need them if we're trying to learn from the interesting hands? Maybe edit out the obvious dross hands?

some good play in there sir, the at hand near the end was defo played to perfection due the largely drawy nature of the board. i think some hands like the tt vs flyndig you undervalued your had by shoving and by doing that u will lose value from worse hands that will 4bet jam ie 66-99/ax hands you are dominating etc etc but in general.

wp sir.

your play is and has definitely improved!!
