I really enjoyed the first couple of weeks, but bricking everything at the end really sucked. I had one deep run, but busted 34th in Event # 34. Was a pretty crazy Day 2. I started off by losing a flip, then on the direct money bubble I raise/snap-called a shove when I had maybe 24bbs with AJs and chopped vs QJ. boo. Was against an online guy who I knew would definitely jam wide. In fact he should really have been scared that I would never fold.
It was funny though because the rest of the table were old guys, and half of them were in total shock that I called so quick, and maybe the rest were in shock that I'd actually called because it was the second hand of direct money bubble (which one hears about loudly enough - that's if anyone on the table didn't actually know).
Two players busted in the same spot. I might have been pissed to chop three ways or whatever they do. Didn't get a t-shirt for busting Chris Ferguson, when I sicko min-raise K5o from the cut off (CO) when he has 3bbs in the big blind (bb). Amazingly I think he plays 3.4bbs so sick. He had 62o and decided to flat and jam KK2. At some point the 'the mavern' turned up with quite a lot of chips, but he didn't seem to respect who was two behind him (me!) and I managed to pick some nice spots where I semi hero-jammed a spot weak with no fold equity (FE) and he had worse.
I moved to a new table which was super aggro and I was happy. I think I lost a small flip somewhere when I had the nuts, before super hero-jamming AT into a dude with no FE in a spot where I should technically give respect. He had A9, yay! Then I go super card dead and start wondering when I'm gonna finally blind out, then hero shoved T8o UTG+2 with maybe 12bbs just because I thought I'd get away with it. People would fold super strong vs me because of image, plus two super short stacks. Apparently I was a hero in this tournament. One called and I beat AJ. I then get to like ~400k by winning QJ vs AJ all-in pre. One time?
Jacks signal the demise
Clearly I then lose AQ vs J9s, for 9bb pot, then I raise/call AQ and lose to KJ for a 250k against an old dude who hated my soul up to that point. He'd got super pissed at me and was definitely about to make a bad situational jam. I start the tactical blind-out strategy before my final hand. I had 230k at 5k/10k/1k, raised UTG with dem pocket jacks to 27k. UTG+1 and the bb flatted. I didn't really have any info on UTG+1, this was like the second hand as he was new to the table, so I just ended up having to guess.
He was maybe a 34ish yr old American who'd immediately signalled himself as a bit of a clown by his speech coming to the table and I kinda felt he'd do something dumb. The bb I'd played with a while, and thought he was pretty solid. Young internet kid, was definitely kinda wide but had to respect my stack size and opening position. It came K45dd, Action went: check, check, dude shoves about 320k with bb covering. bb folds, and I sigh before calling for 195kish because I just has the best pair. I obviously lost to ATdd and that was that. 500k was avg for day 3 pfffffff.
Jack Powell (doctorfun) gave me some good sweats, flipping ak vs qq for 1.2mill chips (which was enough to be about final table avg) to bust 30th in the $1k Stimulus event. In one of the $2k events he ended up busting 11th, AA < 44 for about 15bbs each. I was on the rail (expert bustout from a $1.5k within an hour), then I saw everyones reaction to the flop and cried a little. Oh well such is the game of tournament poker. James666 came even closer, busting 7th in the $2.5k 6-max. Great efforts.
