I guess it's not outrageously unlikely, but even when I'm playing super bad I still expect to book wins - sometimes just on variance. I think I've played well up til the last week, and recently I've just been on some super megatilt. At NL100 today I managed to open shove 100bbs effective on the button, the small blind actually called 8-high with a short stack and was ahead :( At pretty much every competitive thing I've tried this month, I've gotten destroyed.
Pop music and the Premiership
To break it up, I went to see U2 at Wembley last week. Bono was obviously rocking out and I probably drank more beer that day than I will for the rest of August combined. Last saturday I got to go to the Emirates Stadium (home of Arsenal FC) for the first time. I managed to get a season ticket this year, so I've started to get back into football. Arsenal looked pretty and beat Portsmouth 4-1. They've been killing mediocre teams recently, and I'm hoping they can do well versus the much stronger teams - even with all the injuries.
Back to the tables
High stakes MTT legend, thay3R (pronounced thay- three- aRRRRRee) is in Europe for the first time ever, so this Thursday I'll be off to Amsterdam to show him around a little. I always wanted to see Amsterdam in the summer time, and I get to hang out with some dutch kids for a couple of days.
Theres a €1K event in Utrecht on Friday which may be worth looking at, although I do plan to play a lot online this week. Recently, i've started recording my screen. I've been trying to record tournaments, but that's been an epic fail. I should be logging some cash sessions at various stakes in order to get a good look at the different levels available on PKR.
Next week I go to Cardiff for the latest GUKPT, and then swiftly back to London for the annual event at the International (formerly known as the Gutshot). I missed it last year playing at Turning Stone in NY, and I'm definitely looking forward to it this time. I haven't been to the International since the move from the Gutshot and I expect good things. Hopefully I don't play shockingly and can put together some interesting trip reports.
