I am in Vegas and have got a killer cold. I cannot talk, I cannot breath properly and my nose has never seen so much mucus pass through it every 5 minutes, nice thought I know!
Anyway, this means I am having to play my Main Event Day 1D with a less than ideal mental fitness capability. I am going to have to concentrate very hard in order to stay focused especially seeing as I am going to have to play five levels today instead of the first two Day 1's four levels. In regards to seating draws, I have run fairly hot so far in the few events I have played. Every time I have landed myself tables with weak passive players, and when I have had good players on the table, I have had position. Therefore I feel that the world is going to come down on me like a ton of bricks for the Main Event, and all my good luck will crash on me with bad table positioning and bad table selection methinks!
Despite this, I am still pretty hyped, and would be disappointed if I do not double up for Day Two, let alone make Day Two. I have spoken to a lot of people who have already played, and the field is apparently ridiculously good value, so hopefully I can make something of it in the early levels with cash-game-esque stacks...
I shall be updating my progress throughout the week on the PKR Forums, and shall blog again once I bust or make the Final Table (so hopefully you shall not hear from me for a good 10 days)!
Other things that I shall talk about briefly are the PKR Party and other little meet ups. The Party at the Palms was a huge success, the only thing that beat the A-list of party goers, bunny girls, podium dancers, copious amounts of drink (most of which now resides here at the PKR House!), was the fact that a lot of big stars were not alowed into the party as too many people were already here! I think big kudos has been firmly cemented by the poker world for PKR's great party, completely original and will not be forgotten for a long long time by everyone who turned up!
Two days later and it was a gathering at the PKR House for a BBQ (cue over-ordering of alcohol and food... Niiiice!). A relatively smaller turn out than expected as most of the main event qualifiers did not show for whatever reason, meant all the PKR crew and others had a nice intimate party at the pool, i loved it! Despite being rottenly hung over, i battled through the day with the aid of our hired Life Guard (female, very pretty, damn its a hard life).
As my nose dribbles, and my head pounds, I cannot help but think I could have it worse in life..... Meh..... I will still try to get as much sympathy for my near fatal condition as possible today!
Wish me luck...
