After sharing in zlatan35's success in Macau, Norwegian Team PKR Pro kingkai84 stayed on to battle more the world's best in the $5K buy-in APPT Main Event...

Here's a short recap of my APPT experience. I started off at a table of unknown players, or at least there were no superstars, so I was looking forward to a nice day of building my stack without getting to much resistance. Man, was I wrong...

I started with 20k with blinds at 50-100. During the first two levels I couldn't hit a single flop. I was calling raises with suited connectors and small pairs, but was not even close to hitting. My stack slowly dwindled and I went into the first break with around 14k - yay. I always start bad. Maybe I should 'do a Hellmuth' next time and sit out the first two hours. I'd lose less then, I reckon! LOL.

Nothing changed after the break. I got my first real hand and 3-bet preflop with AK. I made the standard c-bet on the Q-hi flop, but folded on the turn when the other guy made a decent bet. Everything was going downhill until I won my FIRST hand - no kidding. I raised with TT and the CO 3-bet - yay another 3-bet. Mine was an easy call when you're halfway into tiltmode. The flop came 9 2 5, I think. I checked, he bet out 3/4 of the pot and I was not sure what to do. Raise or call? I was not folding, that's for sure =) I ended up calling his bet, and the turn brought a ten. OMFG. Did I actually hit? Inside, I was jumping for joy, doing /cheer emotes like crazy in my head. Ok, get a grip Kai. You're playing a big tournament here, no need to go crazy, lol. So I casually checked to him, and he bet out over half the pot. I was thinking, 'sweet, let's count my chips'. I started to count out my chips but ended up pushing it all into the middle. ALL YOU CAN EAT BABY!! He called with KK and my 2-outer held up. Back to 23k...

Despite a nice turn-float/river bluff to reach 28k, my stack declined after I was moved to a tough table with big stacks for the last level of the day and ended up with 15k. Well, I was still alive!

Day Two

I started the day with Joe Hachem directly to my left, and he had a big stack. I was stealing once per round so I kept my stack to about 15bb before this happened: The CO limped, SB called and I looked down at KJo in the BB. I shipped it for like 15k (blinds 500/1000). The CO called, and I thought 'Argh, did he actually trap me?' The SB folded, and the CO turned over...A6o. OMG. The flop came J55, with the jack in the door - happy days! The turn brought a king, but the river an ace - LOOOOOOL. I actually thought it was funny... anyway, that was $5k well spent. /gg me

$11K APPT High Roller Event - victory for Beyne

Oh yeah! Mr Emote himself, Beyne made the final table of the $11K buy-in event and I had the pleasure of railing his progress. What a show he made. LOOOOL. It was more like a comedy imo, with so many golden moments. I think you can read most of them in the PKR Forum thread devoted to his win. I was texting PKR_Jabba like crazy the whole time. My favourite moment was this:

[Eventual 3rd place finisher] Neil Arce raised 100k (4 bets) from utg and Beyne called from the SB. There were five left at this stage. The flop came 5 9 Q with two diamonds. It went check, check. The turn brought the 4d and Beyne bet out 163k, his opponent made the call. River was 3, and the comedy began. Beyne turned around, located his beer and took the longest sip ever. Looooool - you have no idea how funny this way. Johnny Chan started laughing, me and the others on the rail laughed as well. After he'd almost finished the entire beer he put his glass back, and started counting out his chips. He ended up saying '350k' and just slid out a huge stack of chips. He got the call and won the pot with a set of fives!

I was laughing mostly because this is excatly what Beyne does online - timebanking on the river, and doing one of the chiptricks, before putting in the healthy valuebet. Pretty awesome to do that on a final table like this. Anyway, he ended up winning the whole thing. Congrats Beyne. WPWPWP!!!

Macau - final thoughts

This has without a doubt been one of my funniest and most enjoyable poker trips,  if not the best. Zlatan35 winning the APT Main Event, then Beyne taking down the APPT High Roller - PKR is taking over the world!! Not only that, but they've beaten guys like JC Tran and Johnny Chan at the final table, just amazing. I'd like to thank everyone I met here for a really great time.
