An eleven-strong Team PKR, including two Team PKR Pros, headed east to the Asian Poker Tour event in Macau, the Orient's gaming capital found just 45 minutes from Honk Kong Harbour. Team PKR Pro's Kai 'kingkai84' Paulsen writes from the glamourous isle...

I arrived in Macau on Sunday, and since then a lot has happened. I played the HU tournament on Monday, managing to bust out TWICE in the first round, so yes, I'm officially the worst HU player at the APT. After that I met two Norwegian friends of mine and we went to the Whiskey Bar with a former APT model and james666. There was a live band playing which was pretty cool. The drinks were even cooler, LOL. It was a killer combination.

Tuesday was the go-karting day, and of course another big night out. We went to the APT Party, the Whiskey, MP3 and Lion Bars, and I have to admit that zlatan35 was the king of the night. Enough said, but I think the photos will confirm my observation!

I had a really nice dinner at the Macau Tower on Wednesday with the rest of the PKR crew. Since a lot of us were playing the APT Main Event the very next day, we had to take it a little easier, but that didn't mean we weren't still enjoying ourselves! We actually went to a hotel bar to see a performance with some girls PKR_Neil (read the Cardroom Manager's own APT blog) met the night before, anfd got some pretty nice seats next to the stage.

APT Main Event

I was pretty card dead, with no pocket pairs over 88. I had AK and AQ once, AJ twice and KQ twice in six hours. I was down to 7k at 150/300-25 when the following hand occurred. I raised to 900 with KsQs and a bigstack called from the BB. The flop came T 5 3 with two spades - nice, I thought. He bet out 1,500 and I was like 'woooot!' I wasn't going anywhere, so I made it 3,500 before getting his all-in thrown back at me. After already getting half my stack in, I had to call and was pretty pleased to see the 4-2 in the villain's hand. That happiness suddenly disappeared when the ace of hearts appeared, without me hitting my flush. SUX...

So later that night we all met at the Whiskey Bar for some drinks. Since neither Beyne or I mind gambling when we've had a few, we ended up playing casino games and poker into the early hours despite Beyne having to play the Main Event the following morning. LOL. It was pretty nice to hit no.17 at the roulette table after putting down $100 on the single number. Beyne was also up a nice amount at the casino tables. Pokerwise, I won even more, up around $11k having made something like $1.4k in two hours.

All play and no work

What will I be doing for the next few days? It's not easy to say. An APT model I met in Manila earlier in the year will stay with me from Friday until Tuesday, so I guess I won't be playing too much poker. There will be more partying and I also have a bad feeling a bungee jump is just around the corner. And yes, I'm afraid of heights so I'm not looking forward to it!

Anyway, there will be more blogging from Macau over the next few days. I'll be playing the APPT tournament as well. I haven't decided which starting day yet, but I'll most likely be playing either 1B or 1C.

For now, Macau out!
