Vegas over - a final WSOP blog

This year’s Vegas experience is soon to be over. I will be leaving Sin City in two days. Pretty exhausted both mentally and physically, and my bankroll is slimmer than before I came here. But it has been a fun experience nevetheless. I didn’t play the Main Event this year. I tried out two 1K satellites and failed to get a seat in either. Here is a short recap from the satellites...

Satellite no.1: 320 entrants, 30 seats awarded

Didn’t do much before I finally got TT in the SB. I raised to 600 with blinds 100-200 and BB called. Flop came down QQ8. I bet out 850 and he called. Turn Ace. I didn’t like that card not because I thought he had it, but cuz he most likely wouldn’t put more money into the pot. Man I was wrong. I checked and he bet 1,300. I called with only 3.2k behind. I thought he was at it on the flop and I still felt like he was making a move. Well well, let him hang himself. River 2, I checked and he instantly moved me all in with a 4k bet. I still thought he was bluffing, and asked him directly if he was. He wasn’t enjoying himself that’s for sure so I called. He said good call and turned over K high. I was suddenly up to 10k and over avg for the first time.

Built my stack up to like 24k during the next hours and was feeling pretty good with the situation. Doubled up two shortstack first with TT vs K8 and then JTs vs A8. Was down to 16k before I finally knocked out someone with AK vs his AT. After stealing a lot of blinds for a while I was up to 36k and well above avg which was 25k. It was kind of a crapshoot since the blinds were 1k-2k.

With 50 left it was folded to the button and he moves in for 19k and I looked down at JJ in the SB. I normally don’t like calling big all ins in satellites when I know I can stay alive by limit raising and stealing blinds. Well, I worked out that I was way ahead of his range and I still didn’t have a secure stack so I called and he turned over AK. Ace on the flop and I was down 15k but still had a decent pushing stack. Wasn’t getting any cards at all and when I had OK pushing hands someone had already raised the pot. When we were down to 43 players I moved in with QJo for 11k at the 1-2k level and the BB called me with A6. Flopped a queen, but the turn was an ace so that was my WSOP main event seat.

Satellite no.2

In the other ($1K WSOP Main Event) satellite I busted out like midway in the satellite and I only had an average stack at the time. Button raised 3x and I jammed it in with 15bb with AK from the SB. He called with 99. Ace on the flop but he 2-outered me on the turn :( sucked. Don’t mind losing a coinflip, that’s just poker. But getting the 2-outer in the face after hitting my holecards is a little brutal. After that beat I decided NOT to play the Main Event. I was really fed up with tournament poker.

I still entered a $1k Mega Deep Stack at Caesars with a 50k starting stack with Kingand77. I manage to bust out within 4hrs which is pretty remarkable. Especially when we started with 25-50 and I normally play smallball poker. LOL. Anyway, Kingand77 came 4th so congrats to him. WP man, and I’m happy for you.

Now I’m really fed up with poker. Didn’t help that I lost in all my cash game sessions during the last week. That’s like eight straight sessions losing. YAY!! So I guess I’ll take a break for a week when I come back home - get my head straight. The positive thing is that I found a casino where they have single deck blackjack. So I guess I will be grinding that the last two days. LOL. GL me. I probably won’t need it cuz I’ve seen the movie 21 so I know this shit.

+1, +2, +9, double down baby!!
