James Sudoworth looks the part with a glorious streak of PKR blue crowning his coif.
The film, provisionally titled ‘Poker King’, is being directed by famous Chinese language directors Chan Hing-Kai and Janet Chun. It will tell the story of two bitter poker rivals competing for world championship glory, and will feature an A-list cast of Chinese language actors and pop stars. It’s set for a cinema release across Asia later this year.
James will be filming today at the APT in Macau, and will then travel to Hong Kong next week to film the final scenes in a studio.
James said, "I'm very happy being at chosen to be involved in the filming of Poker King. I have seen Rounders many times, and it is without doubt the best poker movie to date, and I have no doubt that Poker King will have the same, if not a bigger effect in Asia. Working alongside some of the biggest names in Asian cinema and celebrity poker players will be great fun, and I just hope that I'm not 'killed off' in a crazy shootout!"
While he doesn’t have a speaking role, James will be the only European appearing in the film and should get a good deal of recognition – especially with his new blue dyed hair.
The film is being hotly tipped to act as an important catalyst for the growth of poker in Asia. Tom Hall, CEO of Asian Logic (owners of the Asian Poker Tour) said, “Think of how many people have seen Rounders and at least quadruple it and you can only speculate at the kind of impact ‘Poker King’ could have on the game”.
We’re glad that James will be a part of it and wish him luck. Next stop Hollywood!
