PKR_Erika: Thanks for talking to us, Martin! So tell us, when did you start playing poker?
Manonfire: Hmmm, well I started playing about 8 years ago but that was just the odd game. I have to say I started playing to win (as in make money) about three years ago. From that point on it was always about improving my game.
E: What’s been your biggest win so far?
M: My biggest poker was around $3700 on another site, but that was a few years ago. Now I only play PKR! As I always say to my mates in our live home games, I consider myself PKR's property, LOL! Saying that, the win that’s meant the most to me has to be winning the Sunday Omaha Showdown for $1400 beating Jaywhat heads up! He’s who I consider to be the best Omaha player on PKR.
E: Who are some of your favourite PKR players?
M: Wow theres so many! Discomonkey, Azurecoil, Trymean77, Deliight, Jaywhat, Mack05, NexusWR, Chivalrousgent, Paddingtenpair, Pkrxprinces, Tigerrr of course :D Many others include Leeloks, Demondave, Flyonth3wall, Meroryman the list could go on forever!
E: Which PKR players would you say are the toughest to play against?
M: Well Discomonkey and Azurecoil are a total nightmare! Lucky for me I haven’t met them too many times on the tables. Apart from them I really can’t think of any nightmare players.
E: Do you have a favourite place to be when you’re playing?
M: I play nearly all my poker in my room. I’d rather be by myself when I’m playing as I don’t want someone talking in my ear when I trying make a decision on a hand.
E: What are your poker goals?
M: My poker goals at the moment are to make the final table for the Masters and win it! Also I’ve won a few live events but nothing major. I would love to take down a big live event like PKR Live 3 when it happens.
E: What do you do to chill out when you’re not playing poker?
M: Not playing poker???? Well, I love snowboarding so if I get the chance, I love going up to Milton Keynes to the Snowdome indoor slopes. It’s not as good as the real thing but it will do until the season.
E: When you aren’t playing poker, what’s your ‘day job’?
M: I’m a lorry driver by day and teach kickboxing and self defense classes a few evenings a week. It’s a strange combo, I know!
E: Thanks for taking the time to chat with us, Martin. Good luck at the tables!
