The meta-game is our favourite part of poker - multi-level thinking is what separates the men from the boys, the girls from the women and the ... well, you get the picture. Here are our five favourite Metagame articles from RYG. (Don’t see yours there? Let us know in the comments!).
One: DO be a hero
OK, so technically it’s in the Ring game strategy section, but this one features of the greatest examples of high level thinking ever caught on camera. Scroll down to the video, fast forward to 5:12 and watch Patrick Antonius put the zap on Phil Laak with one of the ballsiest (and brainiest) calls we’ve ever seen. Wow. Then let Alex Martin talk you through it in an incisive look at hero calls.
Two: The art of three betting
Straight from the maniac's mouth - learn the secrets that helped our very own Beyne take out Johnny Chan heads up at the APPT High Roller’s Event to win a massive $266,000.
Three: It’s nice to be nice
Stacked magazine editor and all round nice guy Dave Woods does his best impression of your mum and makes the case for good manners being an EV+ move in poker. I couldn’t agree more, you jerk!
Four: Poker on the tube

Especially this collection of golden moments gathered up by our own Rick Dacey - watch Stu Ungar win the 1997 WSOP main Event, Helmuth doing the same in ’89 (to become the youngest winner ever) and the poker brat putting a bluff on Matusow that rocked High Stakes Poker. Fantastic stuff.
Five: Dawn of the card dead
So, how do you beat the bubble (and go beyond) when you’re dealt rags and missing flops? Dave Woods to the rescue...
