How long have you been playing poker and how did you start?
I went to a friend’s house for a weekend in the summer of 2006 and he introduced me to online poker. I was instantly hooked and started reading the usual poker books.
Originally I started playing cash, but soon switched to MTT's and Sit & Go's because I found that cash games were just not suited to my playing style.
How did you get started on PKR?
I found an advertisement for PKR in one of the poker magazines in October 2006. I loaded the software and have never looked back.
Where do you live?
I live with my family and a bunch of cats and dogs in Essex.
What’s your day job?
I'm head of Settlements and Operations for a small Japanese trading house in the City of London. It's a great job with plenty of variation.
What do you love most about poker?
I am only a recreational player, so I love to come home from the office fire up PKR and settle down to enjoy an MTT.
What’s your biggest poker achievement to date?
I won my first MTT in January 2007 and felt like god. Winning a seat for PKR live II was an incredible evening. It was my son’s 18th birthday and he and his friends stumbled home from the pub just in time to rail me on the FT. The railers in the chat box were awesome and I will never forget them.
PKR Live itself was just the most amazing weekend of my life.
What drives you nuts?
Variance! The seemingly endless nights when you constantly get outdrawn or lose every single race. You just got to grit your teeth and get on with it. The light at the end of the tunnel is always there.
Who would be sat with at your fantasy table with you?
Forget about all the prima donna pro's. Give me a table with a bunch of my favourite PKR forumites and a few beers anytime.
What do you like to do to unwind when you’re not playing poker?
We have two Labradors and a small Poodle that are great fun and we enjoy regular long walks. They are also prepared to sit there in silence and listen to all of my bad beat stories without complaining once!
