pelas12 takes down the Omaha Showdown

Four cards are better than two.

One of the biggest and best in Omaha tournaments to be found anywhere online, it's a shame the Omaha Showdown is only once a week.

Claiming the Omaha crown this week was Athens local pelas12 who qualified in the $2 Mega Rebuy Satellite that saw him spin his initial $10 stake into a whopping $1,372 win! While the $50 buy-in was a little bigger than pelas12's usual buy-in, his staking range is likely to expand after this recent bankroll boost.

pelas12 beat tournament favourite zlatan35 heads-up when they got it in with even stacks on a Qh5d5s flop. zlatan35 was holding Ad8dJcQc and pelas12 the 8hThTdKh. The turn bricked a 7c but the inevitable sting came on the river when the Tc finished the tournament.

zlatan35 's 2nd place continues his incredible run at 2009. He's already taken down two of our biggest majors in April/May, winning the Saturday Big Shot and the Sunday $30K for $8,510 and $8,100 respectively! Add to that a few four-figure wins in the regular $4,000 and $3,000 GTD nightly tournaments and you have an impressive bankroll and ROI.

flyonth3wall was unfortunate to get knocked out in 10th place, but with a previous $1,400 win in this event in April he can't bemoan his luck too much.

brutusnr1 was the final big hitter on the table and as a much loved member of the PKR community and all-round top bloke, he had more than his fair share of rail support. With more four-figure wins than the rest of the table put together you could be forgiven for expecting him to pull a top two finish out of the bag, but sadly the poker gods weren't with him this time and he had to settle for a slightly frustrating 4th place finish.

It's hard to find a decent Omaha tournament online nowadays, so it's nice to see the numbers for this one swelling again. Let's see if we can get up to 200 runners and a $10,000 prize pool before the end of the year!
