Bounty winner Tigerrr at PKR Live I
PKR_Erika: Congrats on being picked to be a forum moderator. Are you enjoying it?
Tigerrr: Thanks, I sure am! I really was honoured when the guys asked me if I wanted to join the forum team, and what a team we have. We all know I was already spending a lot of my time on the forum so it’s not a big difference for me, but sometimes I need to read a post twice, first as Tigerrr and then as a moderator.
You probably should ask Jabbi and Dan if they are enjoying having me as a moderator; I think they see me as a real pain by now! (Bet it was a relief for them when I was on holiday... hahaha) :P
E: You aren’t going to go mad with power are you?
T: Hehe, I wouldn't dare! We have strict rules and I follow them.
E: You’ve been a big part of the community for a long time. Why do you think it's so strong?
T: For me the community is like a second home. We can laugh, cry, talk, debate and even sometimes fight with each other. We accept each other for who we are (there are exceptions of course) and we care for each other. Take ‘The Lives behind the Avatars’ thread for example; people sharing their life stories with no shame at all, and some of the lives really aren’t that pretty. I really think that’s great and very rare on a public forum.
E: At the first PKR Live, you flew over from Holland even though you hadn’t gotten a seat. We thought that was pretty incredible. What made you decide to do that?
T: Incredible? Why? From the moment I joined the forum and started to get to know everybody I wanted to meet the people behind the avatars. PKR Live was the perfect opportunity! I wasn’t going to miss that for the world! Thanks to the Rees family [AKA the Chivalrousgent Clan] it was an affordable experience for me too! And after PKR Live I there was no way I was going to miss PKR Live II!
E: Are you coming to PKR Live III?
T: You really need to ask? :) Pinkeltje1 (my roomy from PKR Live II) and I were the first people to book the flight to London! (brutusnr1 and TheMightySwe a close second!)
E: Now onto other areas - when did you start playing poker?
T: It must be a little over three years ago now. It all started with the poker boom, everybody was talking poker. A few of my colleagues were playing on another site and I joined to see what the fuss was all about. I never made a deposit there though, it was all for the fun.
E: How long have you been playing at PKR? What brought you here?
T: That would be a little less than three years ago. My boyfriend Olav noticed I was into poker and he found PKR on the net, he told me about it, I installed the game and I was hooked. Olav still regrets that day... At first it wasn’t that big a deal because we only saw each other at weekends, but when we moved in together we had some arguments about my obsession! I had to make some adjustments like not playing every day anymore, so from that moment I turned into a social player. I just play for the fun with my friends, not for the money and I am happy with that.
I will bring him with me to 'PKR goes Dutch' this month so he can see what the peeps are like and to make him a part of my obsession and try to make him understand it a bit more. He did try a few freerolls on PKR but online poker is not his thing.
E: What’s your most satisfying moment in poker?
T: On 22 August 2008 I won the first ever $10 Break Thru tourney, beating a 132 player for $331 - I'd never won so much money!!! I was over the moon and the rail was awesome! I'll never forget that!
E: Who are some of your favorite PKR players?
T: At first I should mention tubbs1one and CelticPoker, I met them in the first Forum Invitational and I stalked them both for a long time to learn how to play the game. (That F.I. made me decide to deposit because I wanted to play that tourney. Before that I was just a lousy freeroller!)
Some special friends from the early days are gecko4you, Wolfy, Azure, Trymean, Chiv, Billy and Fallenangel and some from the later days are Jaywhat, Brutus, TMS, Nexus, Prinny, Disco, Pinkeltje and Fifthsuit. Special mention of course for my first love here on PKR_Jabbi. ;) You know I would love to mention my whole friends list but I can’t! The persons I care about know who they are.
E: Which PKR players would you say are the toughest to play against?
T: The players who see potential in every hand they get dealt and the players who think that the $2 to $5 tourneys [which I play] aren't that important because those buy-ins means little to them.
E: Who would you count as the best poker player in the world? Who do you think is vastly overrated?
T: To be honest, I really have no clue. I'm not that interested in them! I think little Dutchie Noah Boeken is a cutie, Phil Ivey seems to be good, Scotty Nguyen gave me a great shout out two years back (thanks to Dan and Jabbi) and I think Daniel Negreanu is a sweetie.
E: If you could sit down and pick someone’s brain about the way they play, who would it be and why?
T: Hmmm, I think I'll choose Marcel Luske because he is Dutch! Makes it a lot easier for me to discuss strategy!
E: What do you do to chill out when you’re not playing poker?
T: Olav and I love to watch TV series like CSI, House, Criminal Minds etc. We can watch for hours! I love to read thrillers, eg James Patterson. I love to cuddle with my two cats, Tigerrr and Monster, I love to spend time on the forum or play board games with friends!
E: What’s your ‘day job’?
T: I work as a supervisor of the admin group that takes care of building permits in the City Hall of Apeldoorn, my hometown. And I joined the works council of the city hall last year as a chairwoman for the personnel committee.
E: What are your poker goals for the next 12 months?
T: Not to make any more deposits!
E: Anything else you want to tell people about you, poker, or life in general?
T: If people want to know more about me all they have to do is read the forum!
E: Thanks for that, Tigerrr! See you at PKR Live III!
