Day One: moisty1985
First up to take on the 'Play Money meets Real Money' tournament challenge last night was England's moisty1958, aiming to set the bar high for the week's remaining competitors.
PKR Open $10k GTD - 340/666
After 35 mins without a solid starting hand, our hero escaped from an outdrawn J-J with stack intact. Pocket nines, pocket threes and pocket nines again brought no better fortune. With a stack of 1,135 remaining, he was dealt 9-9 for the third time, and moved in. Called by Celleke1's Q-Js, his fate was sealed when the flop brought a queen. Another for good measure on the river meant our man departed in 340th place.
$5 Deep Stack - 90/225
After an early cooler halved his stack when his Q-hi flush ran into the nut flush, our hero got back in the game, doubling through K-9s with A-7 pre flop. Q-Q held against A-J on a jack-hi flop to take moisty1958 near to to his starting stack. As the blinds, antes and pocket pairs (overcards on the flop) took their toll, moisty1958 foud himself all in on the flop with a pair against a flush draw and two overs. Sadly, the river hit his opponent's overcard and moisty1958 hit the rail in 90th place.
$5 Deep & Steep $2.5k GTD - 488/617
In his final effort, our hero got off to a rough start, flopping top pair against middle set in level one for a small net loss. They key hand occurred 25 mins into the action, with moisty1958 flopping middle pair and a flush draw. His opponent took the rope that was handed, betting flop and turn before backing into a higher 2nd pair to take the pot on the river. This sealed the fate of today's challenger, who was unable to dodge the familiar mines of tournament poker
We wish today's challenger the best of luck. Check out the thread in the PKR Forums for news on the identity of the player!
