xxPPSxx takes "Win your Roll" lead as finish line draws near

Updates from the third day of PKR's community Play Money contest

By PKR_Danski on Thursday 13 Aug 2009 16:00

Choppy tournament seas prevented the first two challengers from reaching the money, and so the quest for a $100 bankroll, hoodie and chipset has been thrown wide open with three challengers remaining...

Day One: moisty1985 - $0 cash, best finish: 90th

Day Two: Jester8 - $0 cash, best finish: 115th

Day Three: xxPPSxx

The third Play Money competitor to take our challenge needed only finish higher than 90th in any of her three tournaments to take pole position with two nights to go. The Glaswegian grasped the "Win your Roll" challenge with both hands and kicked off her evening with the PKR Open Bounty...

PKR Open Bounty $10k GTD - 234/660

Sitting to the immediate right of Team PKR Pro callmebabe is a baptism of fire for any player, and so it proved with our heroine. A promising start with a flopped set of sixes, a successful AK v AJ and a huge pot with KJ v 77 turned sour on the 45 minute mark, her KJ busted by monsieurhache's AA to end her Bounty run.

$5 Deep Stack - 82/221

Another good start for xxPPSxx as her 99 earned her a 4K pot against an opponent's ace-high bluffs on every street. However three hands in as many minutes heralded the demise of our heroine, begun by a busted flush draw in a key pot. Next a heavier loss occurred while she attempted to throw her opponent, who had flopped bottom pair, some rope. However, he leapt in front courtesy of a third deuce for trips on the river. In a similar tale the very next hand, her second pair remained in front til the river, when her previously semi-bluffing opponent spiked his gutshot to all but eliminate xxPPSxx. Crucially however, the Scot's 82nd place did move her into first place in the "Win your Roll" challenge, improving on moisty1985's 90th place effort on Monday evening.

$5 Deep & Steep $2.5K GTD - 399/544

The last chance saloon proved no more fortuitous. After 35 minutes of cold cards and colder flops, xxPPSxx moved her short stack into the middle with A6, yet could not defeat 77 and A5 to end her evening with an early finish in the Deep & Steep.

We wish today's challenger the best of luck. Check out the thread in the PKR Forums for news on the identity of that player!
