As the Play Money challenge draws to a close this evening, Porto resident F4keBluff last night set the new bar, improving on Day Three competitor xxPPSxx's 82nd place finish...

The story so far...

This week's rags-to-riches (or just rags!) Poker Idol competition sees one new Play Money player taking on the nightly Real Money tourno sharks in a race to earn the most cash, place the highest or just play the best poker. The best performing contestant by the end of the week will win a $100 starting bankroll in addition to a PKR hoodie and travel chipset! Here's how the chosen few have done so far...

Day One: moisty1985 - $0 cash, best finish: 90th

Day Two: Jester8 - $0 cash, best finish: 115th

Day Three: xxPPSxx - $0 cash, best finish: 82nd

Day Four: F4keBluff - $0 cash, best finish: 50th

PKR Open Bounty $10K GTD - 362/567

Promising starts have been the order of the week, and after 16 minutes, F4keBluff took a welcome double up to over 5K courtesy of AKs v AQ, the Portuguese player turning the nut flush. However 15 minute later disaster struck. Our hero isolated an out of position limper with JJ pre fop, and the flop brought T 9 9. Some chips went in on the flop, with the rest going in when the turn brought an 8. His opponent showed 89s and our hero hit the rail.

$5 Deep Stack - 50/205

Five hands into this event, the JJ which had proved ineffective in the Open held against 88 for a modest early profit. Our hero showed some mettle 30 minutes later having checked the big blind 3-way, firing into his opponents on the flop, turn and river with just K-high to take down a 3K pot. After some ups and downs and the blinds now onerous, F4keBluff moved his stack in with KJ and could not prevail against A5 and 68. His 50th place was however good enough to move into the lead for the "Win your Roll" challenge.

$5 Deep & Steep $2.5K GTD - 254/580

A nasty cooler heralded the end of our fourth challenger's evening. With AQhh on a Th J 9h flop, all three players got the chips in the middle. One turned over AQ, the other JJ, leaving our hero just 25% for the win and 15% for the split. No help on turn or river came and F4keBluff departed in 254th place.

We wish this evening's fifth and final challenger good fortune in his quest to better the 50th place finish set by F4keBluff. Check out the thread in the PKR Forums for news on the identity of that player!
