Event 34 $1,500 No Limit Hold'em - 16 June
This is a really short stack tournament (4,500 chip to start) and you must get a good start to do well. First hour, I didn’t get a hand. Then I got AJ suited on big blind. Everyone folded to the small blind and he raised me three big blinds. This is maybe only a standard raise and of course I flat call him here.
The flop comes KQQ with two of my flush cards and a royal straight flush draw! The guy checked the flop and I bet out. He flat-called me and on the turn the flush card came. He checked again and with the A-hi flush, I bet out. He then min-raised me - maybe I should think something's up - and I flat-called him. A blank card hits the river and he bet 2,500. Hmm that was confused. I thought for 3 minutes and then called him. Of course he'd flopped the full house. Should I fold here?? If I’m in the same situation again I probably fold on the river.
Then I got short stacked and pick up KK. A guy min-raised from early position, and I raised him to 4x and two other guys flat-called, as did the early-position raisor. The flop came A T 2. Of course, this this sucks ****! I didn’t have too many choices here, I bet out ¾ of the pot and the guy in early position push. I had nothing behind so couldn’t fold here. He had AT LOL. Some people play strange….. yeah yeah ….
Event 36 $2,000 No Limit Hold'em - 18 June
This was my second WSOP event. I got a good start in this tournament, picking up AA in the first hour. The guy under the gun just limped, everyone fold to me. I'll make a small raise here because I want action. Blinds were 25/50. I raise to 225 and the guy flat called. The flop came Q 8 2 two hearts. He bet out 500, and I thought for a while and just flat-called him.
I took the risk here that another heart or Q would come, however the turn was perfect A! He again bet 500 and I raised him to 1500. He called me, and checked the blank river. I want a call here so I just bet out 2,650 and he called me with AQ.
After this I get a good stack and we all change table. Then I moved table six times in two hours, which I didn’t like because it always take time to see how the new players play. Didn’t get one decent starting hand for two hours, and just stole some blinds in position. Then I got AQ suited - one guy limped from early position, one guy raised and I flat called him with another guy calling us behind. The flop came 2 6 T, and everyone checks (maybe I should bet this flop). Turn was an A, everyone checks again. River was another A. The second guy bet 2k and I couldn’t fold here, and of course he had AK . Should I fold this bet on the river? I think I should bet on the flop and then probably everyone would have folded.
Some hands later the short stack on the table pushes all-in and I get AQ again, suited this time, so I push here. Yes, he had AK and I lost another pot against that hand! Then I was down to 6.5k, and after this I picked up JJ. With blinds at 100/200 I raised to 650. The guy after me re-raised to 1550 and I pushed all-in. He called me with A6o, and with an A on the flop, my tournament was over :)
I've played some cash games but never hit anything so now I will take three days off and play my next WSOP event on Saturday, Event 51. I hope I get some flow now in my game, some hands…
Cheers,
