How long have you been playing?
I have been playing for around 5 years I think.
What do you like most about ring games?
Ring games in general play a lot deeper than tournies which gives a player more room for creativity. You can do fun stuff like try to bluff people off made hands, represent a weaker hand than you hold to try to get paid off or fold a big hand more often and more succesfully.
What’s the most frustrating aspect of the game?
Losing. Especially when I make a mistake in a hand. For me this is wayyyy more frustrating than getting sucked out on or coolered. I try not to do it too often...!
What do you think is the most overrated skill/move in the game?
I don't think that a single skill or move in particular is overrated, but I do think that some people overestimate the effectiveness of whatever the latest 'cool move' is, thinking that adding it to their game will just make them crush. Finding out whether or not 3-betting an UTG raiser still works is probably less productive than thinking about why it may or may not be a good idea.
If you had one tip to players struggling to make the jump from MTTs to cash games what would it be?
Try playing some heads-up cash. This throws you in at the deep end, but will really improve your play in deep stacked cash games of all kinds (and maybe even in tournies too) in the long term. You may struggle at first, but stick at it and I think it will really improve your game!
Which describes you best - feel player or an analytical/math player?
I don't think you can even really play poker without being somewhat analytical, but game flow and metagame play a part in my decision making process - and I try to exploit my opponents rather than trying to play an unexploitable strategy. So I guess that makes me a 'feel' player.
How do you spend your winnings, or do you reinvest to continue building your roll?
At first, and for a long time, I just grew my bankroll. Nowadays, I invest the majority of my winnings outside of poker, and ball out of control with the rest. Hollaaaa!
