Thanks for taking part - so, how long have you been at PKR?
Over two years now.
What's your job title?
Poker Operations Executive.
I moved across to this role a few months ago after previously working in the security team.
OK then, but what do you really do all day?
I’m the fourth wheel along with Neil, Jabba and Danski in the card room team. My job mainly consists of creating tournaments and bonuses, resolving player queries and issues and helping deal with the aftermath of crashes.
Come on tell us something we don’t know about that’s coming up on PKR...
We are looking at a major change in the way aip works that should greatly improve the playing experience on PKR. It involves a lot of development work so we’re currently expecting it sometime in the first quarter of 2010.
Late tournament registration is also in the pipeline and we’re also looking at a major change to the User Interface which will add some great new features, making PKR even sharper and easier to use.
What do you like most about your job?
I enjoy playing and studying poker so working for PKR is pretty sweet. I enjoy the times when I get to be slightly creative, like when thinking of new ways to attract players or making the playing experience better for our existing players with promotions, bonuses and more interesting tournament formats.
The only bad point is having to listen to Jabba and Danski’s nonsense banter ;). A recent gem was who wears the same clothes more often?
So do you play much poker yourself and how good are you?
I try to play as much as I can and I’m currently working my way up in stakes on the PLO cash tables. I’ve been playing for quite a few years now (and I worked in a live casino card room before joining PKR) but I’m still at best a novice. There’s so much to this game and it tilts me when I see players thinking they know it all after they went on a heater on at 1K No limit hold 'em or binked 5 figures in a tournament.
Who is the toughest player you have come up against? Both staff and PKR player?
I haven’t had the chance to play against many PKR players, but I think playing Beyne heads-up would probably make me physically sick.
There is a staff player who seems to think about the game more deeply than most, but I haven’t had the chance to play against him much. When I play live I see it as a chance to win some money, but also as a chance to have some good social fun, and there is one player who drives me to bust out the iPod! I’ve not mentioned any names but I think most people can guess who I’m talking about.
Tell us away from PKR Towers how you like to unwind?
I play in the PKR football team which is a great laugh and of a pretty high standard, even if I do say so myself. I like a bit of poker live and online. I’ve also been spending way too much time recently on COD: MW2. When I have time I also like to go to the pub as well.
Tell us something not a lot of people know about you...
I’m pretty sure I’m addicted to cookies and cream ice cream. I’ve been in denial over this for quite a while now and couldn’t think of much else to say in answer to this question (even though is not really a question without a question mark is it...). So I guess I should say thanks for getting me on the road to recovery. (Ed. We are glad we could help)
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Mind reading would be really handy at the poker tables obviously and I also have no idea what women are thinking most of the time. But then again Wolverine is really cool.
