Not content with becoming just the second person to complete poker’s triple crown by adding a World Series bracelet to his WPT and EPT titles, top British pro Roland de Wolfe is aiming to make it two bracelets inside of a week when play resumes in the $1,500 No Limit Hold’em later today (event #34).
Whittled down from a massive starting field of 2,095, the 21 remaining runners will play down to nine before forming the final table – an FT that you can watch live and exclusively on http://wsop.pkr.com from 21:00 GMT.
Lying third in chips, expert big stack player De Wolfe has a real shot at taking down his second bracelet in five days.
But standing in De Wolfe’s way are two of the Europe’s finest no limit hold’em tournament players. Currently lying ninth, British bracelet winner Praz Bansi is looking for his second cash at this year’s WSOP and represents a real threat. But perhaps the greatest challenge to De Wolfe comes in the shape of Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier who himself is looking to complete the third leg of his own triple crown attempt. And with a staggering $5million in live tournament winnings in the past two and a half years, he’s sure to have a say in the outcome.
On a personal note I’ll be supporting De Wolfe (and not just because he’s a Brit or a fellow Arsenal fan). The last time I played Roland heads up (way back in 2004 when he was still a poker journalist), I won. And I have to say that I like the sound of saying I beat a triple crown holding double bracelet winner. Roland ftw!
