After a well deserved day off, Team PKR Pro Karl ‘Discomonkey’ Fenton will be joined by online qualifiers Steven ‘dj2milli’ Milligan, Gian Marco ‘eupremio’ Pala and Ilosvay ‘xzseex’ Zsolt in taking a seat for day three of the 2009 World Series of Poker main event.
Reaching day three is an achievement in itself. Three quarters of the 6,494 strong field have already fallen by the wayside in the hunt for the ultimate prize in poker.
While all four remaining PKR players are just behind the 113k average stack, they’re all still in with a shout. Blinds are set to be 600/1,200/200 when play resumes, meaning that even the shortest PKR hope still has well over twenty big blinds behind the line. Current PKR chip counts see eupremio having 103,500, dj2milli on 93,900, discomonkey on 40,200 and xzseex making up the quartet on 31,300.
As if anyone needs reminding, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The prize pool is a staggering $61m. The top 648 players will cash, each taking home a guaranteed minimum of just over $21k – not a bad payday if you satellited in. But go really deep and the amounts of money can become life changing, with each final tablist set to become an instant millionaire and the eventual winner taking down a cool $8.5m.
Updates will be made to the WSOP main event forum thread as and when news filters through from Vegas, so be sure to check in regularly.
PKR FTW!
