It’s the biggest buy-in open poker tournament in the world. It tests a poker player’s skill over five different games (Hold’em, Omaha, Razz, Stud and Stud Eight or Better). It has the highest quality field you’ll see. It lasts for five days, despite having less than two hundred runners. And it also awards a trophy named after the one pro that everyone respected – David ‘Chip’ Reece.
There’s nothing in poker like the WSOP $50k H.O.R.S.E World Championship – and the only place you can watch it live is at http://wsop.pkr.com.
The final table takes place at around 21:00 GMT on Tuesday 30th June. By then the field of world class poker talent will have been reduced to just nine hopefuls looking to follow in the footsteps of the event’s three previous winners Freddy Deeb, Chip Reese and Scotty Nguyen.
So given it’s a world class field, who can you expect to see at the FT come Tuesday? Latest betting has Phil Ivey as a favourite at 16/1 – he’s one of the world’s best and is bang in form having won two bracelets at this year’s Series already. Following close behind are Barry Greenstein and Allen Cunningham at eighteens, with defending champions Scotty Nguyen with Patrik Antonius at 20/1. Other big names near the top of the betting include Negreanu (22/1), Seidel (25/1), Chan (28/1) and Doyle Brunson (35/1).
Of course, just talking about this in the office has led to a marketing team last longer. For what it’s worth, the PKR team’s selections follow.
