Never thought about this before but this is a very good point! how many times do u open the button with a hand that flopes relatively well but the bb or sb 3 bet making this hand unplayable unless u wanna make a big 4 bet putting a ton of your stack in the middle!

Perhaps what you have highlighted here is that novice players are playing the obvious game, not one that has been learnt. Therefore limping in poor position is what seems natural, but the inexperienced player has been unable to utilize that further into the game, and therefore it seemed initially like a bad play. As a good player, you are simply able to take the opening to its next stage post flop. This is the same as openings in chess. There are the accepted good openings, but a good player can open with a what seems a more dangerous position, that a weak player would struggle with mid game.
