PKR tournament rules

  1. Unless otherwise stated all MTTs on PKR use this structure.

  2. All tournaments will begin promptly at the scheduled start time. We cannot delay start for any player for any reason.

  3. All seats are assigned randomly and seats cannot be changed.

  4. The button will always start at seat 1.

  5. The tournament ends when one player has accumulated all the chips in play.

  6. Satellite tournaments will end when all prizes (seats and/or seats and cash prizes) have been won.

  7. If two or more players are eliminated on the same hand, the player who had the larger chip stack at the start of the hand will place higher. If both players started the hand with identical chip stacks, the players will finish tied and prizes divided equally. Players eliminated during the same hand of a tournament during hand-for-hand play will still be deemed to be eliminated on the same hand, even if sat at different tables.

  8. When two players remain, the button will post the small blind and be first to act.

  9. No player may play in such a way that benefits another player in the tournament. Unfair play, including collusion, soft-playing and chip dumping may result in penalties against both players including seizure of funds and account closure.

  10. The software keeps tables balanced in terms of player numbers throughout the tournament. As players go broke and are eliminated from the tournament, different tables can have significantly different numbers of players seated at them. To counter this imbalance in player distribution, you may be reseated at any time to another table. This process is random, and you may be reseated repeated times during the duration of a tournament.

  11. As the number of open seats increases, the software will automatically close certain tables. You will be advised when the table at which you are seated is being closed. The break order is from the highest numbered table for the tournament in descending order.

  12. If you fail to respond, or suffer a disconnection, there is no all-in protection.

  13. You may not sit out a hand. You may, however, mark yourself as Away From Table.

  14. If you time out due to a lost connection, or fail to respond when it’s your turn, you will automatically be marked as Away From Table.

  15. If you are Away From Table, blinds are paid as appropriate and your hand is folded.

  16. Prizes will be awarded as per breakdowns listed in the tournament lobby.

  17. Players and spectators should use the chat facility in a polite manner and should not provide advice to any player.

  18. An under-raise is any raise that is less than the minimum permitted amount. This can only occur when a player is going all-in but does not have enough chips to make a full bet. After an under-raise has taken place, depending on the betting type, some restrictions on further betting occur.

  19. In limit poker – If the under-raise is less than half of the required bet, the betting round is locked. This means any player who has already acted in the betting round (with the exception of compulsory bets) may no longer raise, but may only call oR fold. Any player yet to have acted may raise the standard amount (after calling) which unlocks the betting for all other players.

  20. In no limit and pot limit poker – The same restrictions apply as for limit games, however, the under-raise only needs to be any amount less than the minimum raise to lock the betting round. If you time out due to a lost connection, or fail to respond when it’s your turn, you will automatically be marked as Away From Table.

  21. Whether in a hand or not, players may not discuss the hand until the action is complete. Penalties for discussing hands may be given.

  22. Multi-table tournaments are scheduled, and you must register for these tournaments prior to the posted start time. Registration for any given tournament closes a few minutes before the start of the tournament, after which time you can no longer register or unregister.

  23. At stages of the tournament where the prize money jumps significantly with the next player eliminated, and when there is more than one table remaining, the tournament may be played ‘hand-for-hand’. This means that if one table finishes its hand before the other table(s), that table waits for the other table(s) to finish before the next hand is dealt. During this hand-for-hand period, all bustouts during a ‘synchronized’ hand (even at different tables) are treated as having happened on the same hand, for purposes of determining finish order. Finishing order is then determined by the player to have started the hand with the most chips and will be awarded the higher finishing position.

  24. A player may play on only one account during a tournament. Violation of this rule may result in penalties ranging from a warning, to disqualification from the tournament (with partial or full forfeiture of winnings), to barring from the PKR poker room.

  25. If you register for a tournament labelled as a ‘TV tournament’, you agree that PKR may use footage from this tournament for marketing purposes including broadcast on terrestrial and/or digital television, distribution via online media and inclusion on DVDs or CD-ROMs. All TV broadcasts may feature PKR footage of your avatar, your username, your country of location, age, sex and any publicly available gameplay information including ranking positions, all time money list positions and notable past tournament results. Your hole-cards and betting actions for selected hands will also be shown. If, for whatever reason, a TV tournament is not broadcast, players are not entitled to refunds or compensation.

  26. Cancelled tournaments will be refunded according to our standard tournament cancellation policy. Broadcast distribution details for each TV tournament will be made available in advance on the PKR site.

  27. In case of disputes, PKR management’s decision will be final.

  28. Players winning seats at land-based poker events must agree that they will represent PKR in that event by wearing branded apparel including, but not limited to, shirts and hats during table play. Winners also agree to participate in scheduled photo opportunities, press conferences, interviews and other publicity orientated activities including, but not limited to, receptions, lunches, parties, etc., again while wearing provided branded apparel. This obligation extends for a period of 12 months from the time of the end of the land-based tournament. PKR will be responsible for any costs associated with meeting these obligations.

  29. Players may not make ‘deals’ to distribute winnings before the end of a tournament. PKR will not support any deal-making that goes on in a tournament and will not be held responsible for any deals that are made.
