$10,000 GTD Terminator Bounty15 May 2008
Hunting hat and blunderbuss in hand, 417 runners gathered last night for a shot at a $10,000 prize pool and six $100 bounties. The final table featured a star-studded and incendiary mix of PKR’s top-ranked tournament regulars alongside two members of Team Bounty. Bounty specialist PKR_Jabba arrived at the final table third in chips behind Spazpecker and fallenangel having gained and lost the chip lead several times during the previous two hours. PKR_Harry brought a healthy stack to the final in sixth chip position.
Final table reportSome wild and courageous play saw the final ten reduced to three in quick order, with PKR_Jabba riding the rollercoaster of aggression. Jabba'sfavourite hand took play to heads up when callmeraoul's K-4 busted Spazpecker in third, good for $968. With a bounty in the final two, the already-busted final tablists joined the rail to cheer for a PKR_Jabba victory, which would spread the first place prize throughout the final table participants as per the Terminator Bounty rules.
Sadly for the onlookers, PKR_Jabba died by the sword that had swashbuckled him to the final, making a play on the river with bottom pair for the tournament win. Callmeraoul made the tough call with top pair on a paired board to take down the Terminator Bounty title, the first place prize of $2,661, the $1,603 second place prize on Jabba’s head, the $100 bounty AND PKR_Harry's bounty - some $537! Callmeraoul's total return came in at $4,901 thanks to his bold play and the superb performance of Jabba and Harry. Ripinhas claimed the honour of most terminations, busting 13 unfortunates on his way to the final table.
Congratulations to sunkmeister, xxxnissartxxx, Drag0nking and jahdjis who each claimed a $100 bounty prize for eliminating a PKR_Player.
Special mention must go to the unsung Terminator Bounty experts who made it deep. Spazpecker has stamped his authority on the Terminator Bounty with consecutive second, 23rd and third places in May alone. Fallenangel eventually bowed out in fourth place, adding to his 16th the previous week, while runner-up in 22 march Saturday Showdown sactor strengthened his reputation with a second Terminator Bounty final table in three attempts, after an eighth on 30 April.
Results
1st callmeraoul $2,661 [actual: $4,901]
2nd PKR_Jabba $1,603 [not awarded]
3rd Spazpecker $968
4th fallenangel $764
5th franckpoupard $551
6th PKR_Harry $432 [not awarded]
7th sactor $327
8th Ripinhas $283
9th dreamfactory $186
10th sunkmeister $180
Props to both Jabba and Harry for cracking efforts, to the rail for another electric final table and to everyone who took part. See you all next week...

PKR sponsor charity event for children14 May 2008
PKR.com joined forces with charity One to One Children’s Fund on Sunday, to aid disadvantaged children all over the world. A host of celebrities, including Jamie Oliver and Teddy Sheringham, teamed up to help raise cash for the charity at the One to One PKR.com charity poker tournament.
For this year’s fundraiser, the One to One Children’s Fund returned to London’s stylish Sketch restaurant for another glitzy night of poker and backgammon. The annual event was a huge success which saw over £200,000 raised for children in need. The £365 entry fee (which represents the cost of sponsoring one child for a year at £1 per day) included a champagne reception plus a buy-in to either the PKR sponsored poker tournament or the Eighth Annual Omar Sharif Backgammon Tournament.
Non-playing spectators were also invited to attend and enjoy the champagne reception and auction. The highest bidders donating to the cause took home such goodies as signed Arsenal and Chelsea football jerseys, dinner for two at Fifteen, a signed copy of Harry Potter and a walk-on part in the next Terry Pratchett movie.
Once again the event was a dazzling, celebrity filled affair, with high profile guests Jamie Oliver, Dexter Fletcher, Teddy Sheringham, Jason Flemyng, Charlie Condou, Norman Pace, Benny Wong and American TV Chef Adam Perry Lang, battling at the tables against World Series of Poker Europe runner-up John Tabatabai and Women’s World Open champ Beverley Pace. On hand to watch the fun and cheer his friend on was Jamie Oliver’s celebrity sommelier, Matt Skinner. After hours of play, the tournament was won by Leticia White, daughter of another famous chef - Marco Pierre White. A solid display of poker ensured she scooped the £4,000 top prize, along with the trophy and several celebrity bounties in the process.
Marketing Manager Erika Schwartz said, “It was a fantastic night for everyone involved, and good to see so many people contributing towards such an important cause.”
Check out the photo album from the event.

Tournament Player of the Week 05 May – 11 May13 May 2008
The usual assortment of names old and new congregate again for a shot at the Tournament Player of the Week award. A brace of Canadians will attempt to fend off the challenges from Britain, Sweden and the Nederlands in a close-run week. Let's meet the contenders...
Shortlist
mscales1983
The only Brit on this week's shortlist appears courtesy of three final tables including a 10 May TV Showdown victory, netting him $5,000. A player with an affinity for Terminator tournaments, he has made final tables in both that discipline in addition to final tables and wins in short-handed and $1,500 GTD events. A profitable week and a first major title for a player on the up...
PkrNight
One of two Canadians nominated, PkrNight began a superb week with a deep finish in the 06 May PKR Open (17/373) before reaching another two minor final tables. By the end of Thursday evening he had finished runner-up in the PKR Open and two days later he reached the final table of the $20,000 GTD TV Showdown, eventually being beaten into second place. Outlasting 682 runners in two of our 'big seven' en route to a pair of runner-up finishes puts PkrNight bang in contention.
ScrEEncAnCEr
Occupying a place in the top 50 Overall MTT and top 100 Overall SNG leaderboards, this Swede continues to make a name for himself, reaching six final tables in seven days. After winning a 127-runner Deep & Steep early in the week, he then took down the 09 May PKR Open, beating 334 opponents to the $2,512 first prize. Aside from good results in his favoured PL Omaha tournaments, a deep finish in the Sunday Classic rounded off a great week for a player we'll hear more of in the future.
sourshark
A familiar name at the business end of any major PKR tournament, sourshark earns a third consecutive nomination for another solid week in tournament poker. The Canadian, tenth in the Overall MTT Rankings, made five final tables, winning two. A victory in the 11 May $100 buy-in $4,000 GTD capped a lucrative week, maintaining the momentum from the beginning of the month. Expect more big results from one of PKR's most consistent tournament players....
pokerfreak013
The dutchman earns a debut on the shortlist for his frantic week at the tables. Twelve final tables is not a TPOTW record by any means, but it's among the most prolific performances in a week where multiple wins and mountains of final tables were thin on the ground. Aside from a win in a 126-runner Terminator MTT, pokerfreak013 reached final tables in Deep & Steep, PL Omaha, speed and short-handed events, notably sixth in 07 May $10,000 Terminator Bounty. With a PKR Open final table and a 20th in the Sunday Classic in May, the 21st-ranked Overall MTT player must be enjoying his 2008.
And the winner is...Another great week, a third consecutive nomination and continued impressive form nets sourshark an honourable mention. However, it's his fellow countryman PkrNight who bags the Tournament Player of the Week title, a lucky PKR hoodie and a ticket to the TV Showdown, courtesy of two huge runner-up finishes within 48 hours. Congratulations to him and as ever, well done the four nominees.
Best of luck at the tables,
Dan ‘Danski’ Grant PKR Community Manager

The Tournament Trail 05 - 11 May12 May 2008
Once again, the story of last week told is through the medium of tournament poker, with some familiar names reaching the hallowed felt of the final table...
Monday - The PKR Open $10,000 GTDAustrian HoldemDude outlasted 419 others on his way to a $3,150 first prize. He made two $10,000 GTD final tables in February as well as deep finishes in the $50,000 and a recent TV Showdown. Beaten into second place, marcell84 banked $1,890 while third-placed XxMikeyJxX, who also came 11th in 04 May Sunday Classic, earned $1,134.
Tuesday - The PKR Open $10,000 GTDOne for the Brits as freemantle bagged the second Open title of the week, good for $2,797. The runner-up Pouchock, who finished 13th in the previous evening's PKR Open, took home $1,678. Accomplished regular GiMac managed sixth, continuing his consistent form (13th in $10,000 GTD, 16th in Masters, 16th in later PKR Open).
Wednesday - $10,000 GTD Terminator BountyThe popular Wednesday-nighter attracted 416 entrants in search of booty and bounties. The title was won by Rayman08 who paved the way with a 12th in 03 may TV Showdown before winning his Open seat via a $1.65 lottery satellite. That investment proved wise, his $1.65 growing to $2,645 by the close of play! Runner-up P1MP68 banked $1,580. The most terminations went to frank1888 who offed ten victims on his way to a 28th placed finish.
Team Bounty were well-represented with PKR_Jake finishing 35th and PKR_Jabba squeezing inside the top 100. Congratulations to bennythejet, ravaelo, discomonkey, oggy1981, MagicFuN and disiplin who all claimed a bounty prize of at least $100.
Thursday - The PKR Open $10,000 GTDA field 346 runners took to the felt for a shot at the $2,595 first prize, won eventually by CMaltese. PkrNight bagged 2nd place (and $1,557) in a superb week that saw him reach the TV Showdown final table and a PKR Open cash. Third-placed sirpercy repeated his third in 28 April PKR Open.
Thursday - TV Tournament $8,000 GTDThe week's other major televised final table belongs to the $100 buy-in $8,000 GTD, newly-raised from it's previous $4,000 guarantee. Players accustomed to 40 opponents were astonished to be faced with a field of 135, creating a $13,500 prize pool. Battling his way through the many PKR tournament specialists to the first prize was snellepelle who banked $3,645. Runner-up Cinefil earned $2,160 with both third and fourth place collecting more than $1,000. From next week, this tournament will boast a $10,000 GTD prize pool, and with satellites from $4, there are few better opportunities on the net to take on a small field for big cash.
Friday - The PKR Open $10,000 GTDThe final Open title of the week was taken down by ScrEEncAnCEr who earned $2,512 for the win. Runner-up Notities consoled himself with $1,507, while seventh-placed finnpokerman, nominated for last week's Tournament Player the Week shortlist, backed up his final table with a fine sixth in the TV Showdown.
Saturday - $20,000 TV ShowdownThe 'Showdown proved a double bonus last week for players with an overlay of $1,300 in addition to the televising of the final table. The value was hunted down by mscales1883 who bagged $5,000 and a coveted TV title. Runner-up PkrNight banked $3,000 in addition to his runner-up two nights before in the PKR Open. Third-placed theruffler joined only a few to have reached back-to-back $20,000 GTD finals and was the first to reach back-to-back TV Showdown final tables. In fourth place, TheMightySwe, another previous Player of the Week nominee, swelled his poker CV after a recent 2/365 in 05 April TV Saturday Showdown and a 14/338 in the same event one week later.
Sunday Classic - $25,000 GTDThe weekend's curtain descended as 399 runners sat to contest our showpiece weekly event. The title and a huge $6,483 payday were snatched by Brayman, who qualified through a $2.86 lottery satellite! Runner-up WarwickNN5 cashed for $3,890. Third-placed 577Ratsrepus who took home $2,334, also finished 6/441 in 16 April $10,000 GTD Terminator Bounty. Last week's Tournament Player of the Week DRFrever gave a prominent showing, finishing twelfth.
Congratulations to each of the seven winners and their final table companions.
Best of luck at the tables,

Tournament Player of the Week 28 April – 04 May07 May 2008
Players from all ends of the globe meet this week to receive applause for their impressive run in tournament poker. With a ticket to the $20,000 GTD TV Showdown and a prized PKR hoodie at stake, the competition is fierce….
Shortlist
DRFrever
A new face to the TPOTW pages and the first of two Brits to grace the shortlist, DRFrever reached three final tables, bubbling the 01 May PKR Open final table in 11th place to miss out on a fourth. From the three, he won two – a Terminator MTT to begin and a major victory in the 03 May $20,000 TV Showdown to finish. A profitable week for a player who rightly finds himself inside the top 100 ranked MTT players.
farryboy
The familiar Welshman returns for a fourth appearance on the shortlist, in line for a record two TPOTW awards. The #1 ranked MTT player on PKR continues his astonishing rate of success, notching 20 final tables (next highest – 11) of which he won five, notably two $1,500 GTD’s. Farry’s five firsts topped the win count, with one player on four and two more on three. Farryboy also owned the April Rankings, ending with 59,260 ranking points to the runner-up’s 37,550. He currently sits atop the May Rankings with more than double his nearest competitor’s tally.
finnpokerman
Difficult to guess the origins of this tournament pro! From the same stock as Patrick Antonius and Juha Helppi comes our only Nordic nominee, currently to be found #25 in the Overall MTT Rankings. Three wins, including the $1,500 GTD 6-seater MTT, and another five final tables is good enough to seal finnpokerman’s place on the shortlist. A final table in the 12 April Saturday Showdown lends further weight to his reputation.
RiverStarCar
Our penultimate spot, taken by the lone female on our shortlist, is filled by a tournament enthusiast from Sydney, Australia. Occupying 26th in the Overall MTT Rankings, this aussie found time from the beach to grace six final tables, winning a remarkable four! Victories included a first in the $2,000 GTD and the destruction of a Terminator MTT field. Anyone tuned into PKR TV will be impressed by her tricky, tough style - good enough to carry her to a TV tournament victory (10-seat SNG 03 March).
sourshark
After making his TPOTW shortlist debut last week with excellent results in the Open and $4,000 GTD, this Canadian returns leaner and meaner with two wins and five other final tables. The stats don’t tell the whole story. Getting into his stride with a fifth in a short-handed event, he earned third in the $4,000 GTD before the next day beating 283 others to the $1,500 GTD first prize. A cash in the Open followed by a 102-runner Speed MTT victory set up the week’s grand finale - second in the $20,000 GTD TV Showdown. Several thousand dollars and a place in digital history. Not a bad week!
And the winner is…With DRFrever, farryboy and sourshark all taking down major scores to end the week, it’s a three-way photo. An Open or big weekend title is enough to edge it, and so we welcome DRFrever into the Tournament Player of the Week winners enclosure. One ticket to the TV Showdown for a repeat bid, plus a lucky PKR Hoodie are on their way. Congratulations to him and to nominees past and present, who continue to fly the flag for the significance of skill in the beautiful game.
Best of luck at the tables,
Dan ‘Danski’ Grant PKR Community Manager

The Tournament Trail 28 April - 04 May07 May 2008
In a week where the Saturday Showdown became the TV Showdown and PKR's finest gathered in search of poker immortality, we sift the ashes to uncover great results and notable peformances. Here's the story of the week....
Monday - The PKR Open $10,000 GTDThe week jump-started with the PKR Open, this time sporting 410 runners. After five gruelling hours, the tournament was won by Moroccan HamzaBenj. He earned $3,075 for efforts, having also finished 3/378 in 16 March Sunday Classic. Runner-up northstar74 banked $1,845, with sirpercy clearing a cool $1,107 in third.
Tuesday - The PKR Open $10,000 GTDA field of 357 runners gathered for the second $10k installment. The $2,677 first prize was claimed by Estonian AndrewBaron, whose record already boasted three previous $10k final tables. Scot hotdoggy1 won $1,606 for second place with SOCLAN in third.
Wednesday - $10,000 GTD Terminator BountyWith a predatory chill in the air, 394 players took to the felt to bluff and bust our six bounties. Frenchman maillynx emerged with the Bounty title and $2,507 for the win. Runner-up Spazpecker bagged $1,537 and topped the elimination list with 12 knockouts.
Team Bounty rallied well with two cashes after disappointing in the previous week , PKR_Jake finishing 38th with PKR_Neil close behind in 45th. Congratulations to jonbonjay, Blondy22, Firetrooper, ogganova, 2tallbyfar and Maybury32 who all claimed a $100 bounty prize for eliminating a PKR_Player.
Thursday - The PKR Open $10,000 GTDThursday's Open winner T1gerAce outlasted 400 opponents on his way to the title and $3,007 in cash. Runner-up carltheraver earned $1,804. Other notables include fifth-placed MrPatel7 who won the 24 April $10k and came 4/405 in 30 March Sunday Classic. Proving that SNG'ers can mix it with the best, #2 ranked Overall STT player Governor911 turned in a solid sixth place.
Friday - The PKR Open $10,000 GTDPKR new face clealo won his way into the Open via a $5 satellite, subsequently defeating 363 opponents on route to a $2,730 payday. Runner-up SLLIM732 earned $1,638 after cashing in the previous evening's PKR Open (and going deep in back-to-back Sunday Classics (11th & 15th). Fourth-placed pokerfreak013 added to his 6/338 in 12 April Saturday Showdown while Frenchman zakikarym came into the final table fresh from a 16/401 in the same event the previous evening, finishing fifth.
Saturday - $20,000 TV ShowdownWith it's newly-attained status as a 'televised final table' tournament, the field size of our second-largest weekly event rose to 417 entrants. With $5,733 for first prize, not to mention a place in TV history for the ten players to reach the final table, there was plenty at stake. Tournament Player of the Week nominee sourshark found himself heads up for the title but couldn't bring it home, eventually filling the runner-up spot for $3,440. He's already an in-form horse, booking a $4,000 GTD victory on 26 April after a third place in 24 April $10,000 GTD.
However it was another Brit, DRFever who emerged from heads up play victorious, banking $5,733 and no doubt the respect of his peers once the final table has been aired! The winner carried on where he left off on 01 May having come 11/401 in the PKR Open. A one-hour replay of the final table (edited) with hole cards and commentary will be available soon on both Sky TV (Channels 842 & 157 - UK only) and the PKR TV youtube page. Check out the forum for details and discussion.
Sunday Classic - $25,000 GTDTobsn86 outlastedd 405 runners to claim the Sunday Classic title and $6,613. In addition to a $10,000 GTD third on 18 January and a 6/561 in the Christmas Eve $20,000 GTD, the German had already etched his name into PKR's history books with a runner-up finish and a win in last year's Oktoberfest (08 October Pot Limit Holdem and 11 October Limit Holdem)!
Runner-up berchem13, who lists 'Vodka and Red Bull' among his hobbies, used his wings for a fifth in 06 April Sunday Classic while third-placed desaidon boosted his roll with a third in 15 February $10,000 GTD.

Tournament Player of the Week 21 - 27 April29 April 2008
A very European flavour returns to our shortlist in a week which revolved around the PKR Masters. Our biggest ever prize pool ($112,250) attracted the cream of our players to the felt in search of the huge payoff, and it gave us all great pleasure in the PKR office to discover that a long-time regular rose to the top. The Masters winner is joined by both familiar faces and new kids on the block. Let’s find out how they got here…
Shortlist
barny26
Making his first appearance on the shortlist, our only German earns his spot courtesy of four quality performances last week. He started with a bang, taking down the 139-runner $1,250 GTD before final tabling the 24 April $10,000 GTD. After that sixth place, he won the $1,500 GTD before seeing the week out on a high note, placing sixth in the tough Sunday Classic, good for more than $1,000.
farryboy
Will a week go by without seeing our favourite Welshman at a final table or on the shortlist?! His third nomination arises from a record 24 final tables including five wins! Still atop the Overall MTT Rankings, farry won his usual wide range of events, from PL Omaha to Terminator MTT's, with wins in $1,500 GTD and $1,250 GTD standing out. A third in the invitational Bounty Day Freeroll gets some respect from those on Team Bounty who provided the $2057 prize pool too! Spend our winnings wisely, farry!
FretKiller
Taking time out from playing the guitar and “calling HarryPetard’s bluffs”, this seasoned Brit receives a debut nomination for his four wins and six additional final tables. Currently 35th in the Overall MTT Rankings, FretKiller has targeted the $100 buy-in $4,000 GTD with success, alongside good consistent results in Deep & Steep and short-handed events. Wins in the 21 April $1,250 GTD (279 runners), 26 April $2,000 GTD (110 runners) and 27 April $1,750 GTD (218 runners) stand out among a host of excellent finishes.
sourshark
How this popular Canadian has not made it onto the shortlist by now is beyond me! Close but falling just short in previous weeks, we’re now delighted to welcome him to the list after a strong showing last week. Devotion to his daughter and a love of video games didn’t prevent him from reaching four final tables, winning one, and finishing deep in many more MTT’s. The key result in anyone’s week is a $4,000 GTD or ‘big seven’ win. Sourshark’s third in 24 April $10,000 GTD followed by his demolition of the 26 April $4,000 GTD would alone put him in contention. A runner-up finish in the $2,000 GTD and a third in the $4,000 GTD further add to his credentials. Though they don’t count, a fourth in the previous week’s $20,000 GTD Saturday Showdown (19 April) and a third in 15 April $10,000 (400 runners) tell you all you need to know about this consistent PKR star.
Thomasinder
If you haven’t heard of, seen or been beaten by Norway’s finest PKR export, you need to leave the rail and get involved. One of PKR’s all-time great tournament players, Thomasinder posted a PKR career-best last week by winning the April $100,000 GTD PKR Masters! As with our last Masters winner brother81, such a superb effort for such a huge sum will always be applauded in the hallways of the Tournament forum and this week is no exception. Thomasinder banked more than $28,000 for first place after more than eight hours of play. Clearly no one can question the focus and skill required to emerge with the Masters title and so we celebrate that feat with a shortlist nomination. Not only that, but Thomasinder becomes the only PKR player EVER to win more than one of our monthly ‘majors’. His victory in the $50,000 GTD (24 November 2007) worth $14,280, backed up by multiple $10,000 GTD final tables, proves that this guy is no fluke. Great skills, sir.
And the winner is…Knowing how tough it is to beat 400+ players in a $250 buy-in tournament, I’ll always have a soft spot for any Masters winner. But Thomasinder has his newfound wealth to fall back on, so I’ll look elsewhere this week and where else but a third-time TPOTW nominee with his own wealth of experience at the PKR tables. We met him at the GUKPT London where he aquitted himself well against the best in the business. A remarkable 24 final tables and five wins (not to mention the many previous final tables already this year) have etched farryboy's name in PKR’s history books, bagged him a hoodie and earned him a ticket to the $20,000 GTD Saturday Showdown.
A really tough week to weigh up, so well done to all nominees. I look forward to witnessing greater and greater poker feats over the coming months, including world series qualifiers and bracelets winners, multiple ‘big seven’ victories and more!
Best of luck at the tables,

The Tournament Trail 21 - 27 April28 April 2008
What a huge week, ending with the PKR Masters and Sunday Classic. Let's see how the cash was divided up...
Monday - $10,000 GTDMonday night action kicked off with a field of 385 runners in search of the first major cash prize of the week. The catchily-named Frenchman 01121972 eventually took it down, relegating CheckDamone to second place. BRANTZ, who came in fourth, also notched a sixth in 10 April $10,000 GTD. Sixth-placed lesgriffes67 added to his 18 April $10,000 GTD win, besting 357 runners in the process.
Tuesday - $10,000 GTDThe second of the week's "big seven" was won by adrockuk, who joyfully accepted the $2,610 reward. Runner-up keefkeef compounded his hot form, having already placed 15th in the March Masters and 11th in 13 April Sunday Classic. Fourth-placed BrionW also came first of 378 in 25 march $10,000 GTD and fourth of 383 in 28 Jan $10,000 GTD!
Wednesday - $10,000 GTD Terminator BountyThe always popular chance to put us in our place sported 381 runners all vying for the PKR bounties and the $2,426 first prize. After the terminator carnage died down, matsdanych was the only player standing. His recent ninth in 16 March Sunday Classic and an 11th in 12 April Sat Showdown read well in the light of his win. Runner-up honours went to GaxWalker.
Topping the terminations was ninth-placed orgazmo7 with 13 eliminations. This was only the second Terminator Bounty MTT where the winner was not responsible for the most bustouts, matsdanych claiming only eight.
Team Bounty, in good nick following their Bounty Day successes [see Blog archive], notched up some decent performances. PKR_Chrissie exited just outside the money in 53rd while notorious bountyhunter-killer PKR_Jabba produced another fine effort, cashing in 35th place. Jabba's scalp finally fell to PejaPower who claimed $157 for Jabba's head. Congratulations to Zolli888, orgazmo7, Rudwolf, Licassad and totof69, who also claimed bounties worth at least $100.
Thursday - $10,000 GTDThe final $10,000 GTD of the week involved 364 runners. After an epic final table, final table regular MrPatel7 crossed the line for a $2,730 payday. His previous 4/405 in 30 March Sunday Classic, 18/378 in 16 March Sunday Classic and 2nd in 10 March $10,000 GTD boost his claims for 2008 tournament supremacy. Losing out in heads-up was bishtay, with sourshark, fourth in 19 April Sat Showdown, in third.
Friday – Mega satellite to MastersThe daily $10,000 GTD was replaced by the Mega Satellite to the following evening's PKR Masters. With 25 seats guaranteed and 274 runners entered, it would be a gruelling race to the finish line peppered with crucial strategic satellite decisions. Notable faces among the eventual group of 30 who earned their $250 Masters entry were farryboy, ChivalrousGent, predisposal, sactor, BRANTZ, HansTeeuwen and Mattheuz. Despite the strong presence of Mega winners in the Masters field, none managed to parlay their $30 Mega entry into a Masters final table.
Saturday - $100,000 GTD PKR MastersOur biggest ever prize pool materialised on Saturday evening in the shape of the prestigious PKR Masters. 449 runners formed a prize pool of $112,250, the lion's share of which would be won after more than eight hours of poker. The title and a cool $28,000 went to Thomasinder, winner of the $50,000 GTD back in November 2007. Taking the runner-up spot after just a short time at PKR, Brit mcoupar banked $16,837 for his efforts. Australian beauty lolwhat completed the top three places, taking home $10,102. Check out the PKR Blog or tournament forums for a full report on the Masters.
Sunday Classic $25,000 GTDAfter the glitz and glamour of the Masters, those whose journeys came to a premature end could take solace in a run at the Sunday Classic title. With 421 players and a $6,841 first prize, it was certainly worth it! Canadian Baxter99 emerged victorious with coyoteBrasil settling for $4,104 in second place. Fifth-placed nibz007 added to a solid 2008, having placed fifth in 16 April $10,000 Terminator Bounty and fourth in 21 February $10,000 GTD.
An exciting week with some serious cash shipped across the felt! I look forward to the Masters gaining ground towards $200,000 and beyond as PKR grows upwards and outwards! In the meantime, check out the upcoming APT satellites or catch the worm early with Masters satellites for May's installment.
Best of luck at the tables,

A Masterful, Mega weekend25 April 2008
Log onto PKR this weekend in search of huge cash prizes and entry to the WSOP Grand Final! We have free super-satellites to live events, mega satellites to the PKR Masters, the Sunday Classic and of course the prestigious $100,000 GTD Masters itself.
The MegaTonight at 19:00 GMT, PKR is guaranteeing 25 seats to Saturday's $100,000 PKR Masters. For just $30, take the best-value road to a $250 Masters ticket and an estimated first prize of $25,000!* A number of players have reached both previous Masters final tables having won their entry via the Mega. This time round, it could be you!
For low-cost qualifiers into the Mega, check out the $3.30 super-satellites in the Sit & Go lobby, or peruse the MTT lobby for the $3.30 and $5.50 multi-table versions. Whatever your bankroll, we have options that'll suit you.
$100,000 GTD PKR MastersThe third running of our biggest tournament takes place this Saturday night (19:00 GMT), and it's an opportunity every shrewd player will be forgoing their Saturday evening to particpate in! Skillfully pilot your deep stack through the relatively small field to the final table and you'll be just a raise or two away from the $25,000 first prize.
There's not long to go, but there are still plenty of opportunities to qualify for just a fraction of the cost. Check out the Sit & Go lobby for PKR points and cash buy-in satellites to the Masters. If you're short on time, how about a one-hand satellite to the Masters? We offer three tiers starting at just 52 cents!
On the morning of the big day, we'll also be running five 'Last Chance' qualifiers for just $13.50 each in which we'll guarantee between two and four seats to the Masters. An embarassment of satellite riches!
Premium Freeroll to the WSOP Grand FinalThe WSOP Main Event* may sound more like a lottery, but every year someone wins millions of dollars and a lifetime of recognition after investing just a few bucks in satellite entries. Moneymaker did it in '03, Raymer in '04 and Yang in '07. That's not to mention the Hevad Khan's, Erik Friberg's and Aaron Kanter's. For just 25,000 PKR Points, your name could be next on the list.
One of the least known and best value methods to win a $12,500 Main Event package on PKR, the tournament 'formerly known as' the monthly $10,000 GTD Premium Freeroll now boasts a minimum of 15 seats (each worth $665) to our Grand Final satellite in June. Just 205 runners turned up last month to benefit from $10,000's worth of Main Event satellite entry giveaways.
When the clock strikes 15:15 GMT on 27 April, every value-hunter in the land should be sat at this particular table! Don't miss out...
$25,000 GTD Sunday ClassicA perfect end to our big-money tournament weekend, take a shot at a $7,000 first prize for $65, or check out the huge range of satellites. If you've missed out on a WSOP Grand Final seat or come 'close but no cigar' in the Masters, this is your last chance to round off the weekend in style. Join the cream of PKR at the usual time of 19:00 GMT on Sunday night and who knows, it might be your best Monday morning ever!
Whatever you choose to enter, be it Mega or Masters, WSOP Freeroll or Classic, I wish you the best of luck!

Tournament Player of the Week 14 - 20 April23 April 2008
This week’s shortlist looks like PKR's very own Battle of Waterloo crossed with a four-way scrap involving the Overall MTT Rankings posse. The presence of four of the top 15 ranked tournament players on PKR gives this week's shortlist extra credibility. Let's meet them...
Shortlist
ChiefStek
The first of two Frenchmen nominated this week, ChiefStek reached three final tables, winning two and placing fourth. His hot streak began with a win in 16 April $1,500 Deep Stack and continued the following night when he took down the coveted $10,000 GTD, outlasting 339 opponents. A previous fifth in 10 April $10,000 GTD gave us a clue to what lay in store.
farryboy
A PKR veteran, Welshman farryboy made his way to #1 in the Overall MTT Rankings with dedication and shrewd poker. This previous TPOTW nominee racks up mountains of final tables each week, and is the current record holder - 20 final tables in one week. With 17 last week, he shows no sign of slowing down. But the most remarkable feat to note is the record-breaking six wins he posted last week (the previous record was four). Of the six victories, three came in PL Omaha events and two in Deep & Steeps.
gladheateher
This week sees a third appearance on the shortlist for gladheateher, who’s been around the Overall MTT Rankings top ten for many months, currently sitting seventh. With four wins from eight final tables, she boasts a conversion rate of which Helmuth would be proud. Within 48 hours (15-16 April), she won the $2,000 GTD, the $10,000 GTD and the $2,000 GTD again. Add to that two runner-up finishes in the $4,000 GTD $100 buy-in MTT, and it’s not hard to understand why she graces the upper echelons of the Rankings leaderboard.
Northy
A third British stalwart of the Rankings earns his debut nomination off the back of five wins and three other final tables. Victories in two PL Omaha events, Terminator and short-handed MTT’s along with a deep finish in the 15 April $10,000 GTD put him right in the mix.
PaTrickTonFion
This high-flying Frenchman earns a second shortlist nomination to match his #2 Overall MTT Ranking. He breaks a TPOTW record having made an astonishing 21 final tables, winning three of the events. Cashes in two $10,000 GTD’s further strengthen his case.
And the winner is…Breaking records is usually enough to lock up the Player of the Week award. But winning multiple tournaments including one of “the big seven” is a tough ask. Farryboy’s six wins will no doubt be repeated another time, so it’s three times lucky for gladheateher, whose hot streak wins her the award and a PKR hoodie.
See you at the final table of the $100,000 GTD Masters on Saturday, which is likely to be our largest ever tournament.
Best of luck at the tables,
Dan ‘Danski’ Grant PKR Community Manager

Team PKR in Las Vegas22 April 2008
The WSOP Main Event* may sound more like a lottery, but every year someone wins millions of dollars and a lifetime of recognition after investing just a few bucks in satellite entries. Moneymaker did it in '03, Raymer in '04 and Yang in '07. That's not to mention the Hevad Khan's, Erik Friberg's and Aaron Kanter's. For just 25,000 PKR Points, your name could be next on the list.
One of the least known and best value methods to win a $12,500 Main Event package on PKR, the tournament 'formerly known as' the monthly $10,000 GTD Premium Freeroll now boats a minimum of 15 seats (each worth $665) to our Grand Final satellite in June. Just 205 runners turned up last month to benefit from $10,000's worth of Main Event satellite entry giveaways.
The Premium Freeroll satellite to the WSOP Grand Final MTT takes place on 27 April at 15:15 GMT. Check out this page or the tournament lobby for further details.
It's likely that one or more lucky players from this Freeroll will join the 12-strong** Team PKR on a trip of a lifetime for just 25,000 PKR Points!*** They'll get the real Vegas experience, sit across the felt from the superstars of poker and fight for a piece of the $60 million-plus pie.
Though the title of World Champion may seem a far-away pipedream for some, there's only one phrase that really counts: 'You gotta be in it to win it!'
I look forward to following the progress of each member of Team PKR in the Main Event all the way to the final table and the title!
Good luck all,

The Tournament Trail 14 - 20 April22 April 2008
A week that culminated in our first ever Bounty Day saw increased fields and big names rise to the top. Let's see the story of the week...
Monday - $10,000 GTDLooking to start their tournament week with a bang, 390 runners entered the first major of the week. As the night drew to a close TheThimster showed his Danish mettle to earn the title and $2,925. He followed the win with a cash in the 17 April $10,000 GTD and a 16th placed finish in the 19 April Saturday Showdown. Runner-up cobretti repeated his performance in 26 February $10,000 GTD where he finished second. Fresh from his final table in 12 April Saturday Showdown (5/338), ezoteric managed third place, still good for more than $1,000. Capitalising on his good form, he also went onto make an other $10,000 GTD final at the end of the week (18 April).
Tuesday - $10,000 GTDThe field broke 400 this evening as some of PKR's finest and best-known tournament players found their way to the final table. Former member of Team PKR at EPT Prague jdnorway posted a sixth place, while Doubledub, who in the previous week final tabled both the STT and MTT Grand Slam 500 Freerolls (winning the STT version 10 April), banked $840 for fourth. Third-placed sourshark finished the week as strongly as he began it, exiting in fourth place in the Saturday Showdown. The story of the night however was the worthy winner gladheateher, currently seventh in the Overall MTT Rankings, who collected a cool $3,000 for the win. A storming week saw her take down three events including the $10,000 GTD, as well as consecutive runner-up finishes in the $100 buy-in $4,000 GTD.
Wednesday - $10,000 GTD Terminator BountyAustrian albertreferee outlasted 440 opponents on his way to victory in the ever-popular Terminator Bounty, banking $2,841 for his efforts. In-form Canadian Zenturion filled the runner-up spot having made the final table of 07 April $10,000 GTD and 06 April $25,000 Sunday Classic.
Once again the eventual tournament champ led the way in terminations. Albertreferee notched up 16 eliminations on his way to the title, with 577Ratsrepus next best (12 scalps).
Normally I'd wax lyrical about the best Team Bounty efforts. No such luck this week! Bounty after bounty got their chips in behind, and not a suckout in sight. Topping the bounty performances was PKR_Chrissie who managed 220th! Better is promised for next week...
Thursday - $10,000 GTDTaking time out from volleyball and fishing, Frenchman ChiefStek took down the title and $2,550. He bettered 339 opponents, improving on his fifth in the same event on 10 April. Runner-up position and $1,530 went to huntertripps, with WhatTheF in third. Brit BluffTheRiver, who went on to come 16th the following night, added a fifth place to his month's tally, having earned another fifth in the same event on 04 April.
Friday - $10,000 GTDThe week's $10,000 GTD's ended with a 358-strong field and a final table that included Monday's third finisher ezoteric in ninth. Lifting the virtual trophy was lesgriffes67, who enjoyed a $2,685 payday. Second place EIMafioso57 picked up $1,611 for his efforts with Frenchman Stryke75 in third.
Saturday Showdown - $20,000 GTDThe weekend kicked off with a first prize of $5,000 up for grabs in the $55 freezeout Saturday Showdown. In his first ever cash in any PKR tournament, Belgian bluffer SteamyUncle rose to the top to claim the Showdown title. Keep your eyes on this guy for the future. Keeping it in the European family, Frenchman duke432 took second after a 15th in 13 April Sunday Classic. Forum favourite and previous Tournament Player of the Week whiskymac came third for $1,800 after qualifying via a Lottery Satellite. Anyone who may have thought her 01 April $10,000 GTD victory an April Fool, can now think again!
Sunday Classic $25,000 GTDPart of the 14 Bounty Day tournaments, the Classic sported 439 runners all vying for the title and more than $7,000 in prize money. Londoner mcduffy appeared from out of the blue to take down the final table, his last cash copming in the $12,000 GTD Saturday Special back in September 07! Runner-up and Sunday Classic specialist DoktorJones took home $4,280, adding to his money finishes in 13 April and 09 March Classics. Eight hours into Bounty Day and Team Bounty were tiring, awaiting their second wind. Only PKR_Andy made the money, occupying 31st position.
Nice performances by new players and PKR veterans alike, so congratulations to all. Tournament Player of the Week will be announced later today.
Best of luck at the tables,
Dan ‘Danski’ Grant PKR Community Manager

Bounty Day - Round Up21 April 2008
After 50 tournaments and almost 14 continuous hours at the virtual felt, Team Bounty collapsed into their sofas last night, dreaming of what could have been! With PKR_Danski, PKR_Neil and PKR_Jabba each entered into the full 14 MTT Bounty Day schedule, joined by PKR_Andy, PKR_Simon and PKR_Henry, we had a strong chance on paper of taking down some results.
Although our reputations were on the line, it was the urgency of posting cashes and wins on the board to add to the Exclusive Bounty Day Freeroll prize pool, that spurred the Team on.
PKR_SimonMarketing Director PKR_Simon made an appearance for just the one event ($1,500 GTD 6-max $30 buyin), but ran and played well to find himself in seventh with the chip lead. Sadly the gods (and some impatience!) were not on his side, and he exited sometime later in seventh, narrowly missing out on a final table.
PKR_HenryA newcomer to the PKR stable, PKR_Henry aquitted himself well, entering two events and finishing 5/245 in $1,800 GTD Deep & Steep $15 buyin. His final table banked the Team more than $220 and plenty of respect.
PKR_AndyThe current Terminator Bounty record-holder for the deepest bounty finish (05 March - 5/382) entered six MTT's, final tabling the $1,250 GTD 6-max, cashing in the later $1,500 version and crowning his night with a 31st in the Sunday Classic.
PKR_NeilPKR's Cardroom Manager and master of zen-like focus PKR_Neil endured a brutal 14 hours, but relieved his pain in the forums, posting hand history after hand history of horrific beats to the amusement of the crowd. He went deep in most of the 14 MTTs, but lost huge pots at crucial junctures to emerge with only one cash - a single elimination prize in the 253-runner $10 Terminator MTT. Check these pages out if you ever need cheering up!
PKR_DanskiWith some serious sidebets on the Team's indivdual results, it was down to myself to stop Jabba from topping the Team Bounty charts and some endless office gloating. The moment came in the $1,250 GTD Deep & Steep, when both PKR_Jabba and I reached the final table big in chips. Having outlasted 256 runners, I found myself heads up with Jabba and duly owned him to take down the title. Neil-itus set in after that result. Having used all my luck for the day, I couldn't win a pot or reach the money for the rest of the night. No more cashes were notched on my side of the board, and with infinite bragging rights on the table, Jabba stepped up.
PKR_Jabba My nemesis and Neil's colleague in the Cardroom Team, this lucky fish reached two final tables and cashed in three other events from his 13 MTT's. A runner-up finish (to myself) in the $1,250 GTD Deep & Steep, along with a fourth in $20 Terminator Speed, proved good enough to take Best Bounty Performance.
Congratulations to the two players who won $50 bonus prizes for busting two bounties during the 14 MTT's - Moo22 and ramon80, whose bounty bust propelled him to the $1,800 GTD final table. We'll have to wait til next month's Bounty Day to award the $150 bonus prize for busting three or more of Team Bounty!
With all winnings going into the Exclusive Bounty Freeroll (see here for details) the final tally would damn us or delight the qualifiers. Here are the figures:
Return on investmentPKR_Andy 107% (six events)
PKR_Danski 99% (14 events)
PKR_Henry 782% (two events)
PKR_Jabba 116% (13 events)
PKR_Neil - 97% (14 events)
PKR_Simon 290% (one event)
Total winnings: $2,057.49
Total buyins: $1,299.40
So we turned a profit! The Bounty Day Freeroll now sports a $2,057.49 prize pool as a result of Team Bounty's efforts. Every player dealt into a hand in which a bounty busted will receive an invite to the Exclusive Bounty Day Freeroll, along with any player to reach the final table of the event won by PKR_Danski. All in all, a maximum of 268 players will fight it out on Thursday evening at 19:30 GMT.
With hugely increased field sizes and great feedback from the players, along with a modest but solid effort from a small Team Bounty, Bounty Day is destined to return to a Sunday near you in the not-too-distant future. Keep your eyes peeled on this blog and your email account for details...
Thanks to everyone who participated in a day of superb entertainment. Best of luck at the tables,

$10,000 GTD Terminator Bounty17 April 2008
A field of 441 players took part in last night's edition of the Terminator Bounty. Austrian albertreferee emerged victorious, banking $2,841 for his efforts.
Overall MTT Rankings leader farryboy had a red letter day, earning $205 for busting PKR_Leon (Leon had already busted PKR_Jabba!). sledger, MrBlaster, stewwfc and sebamed also claimed a bounty prize.

Tournament Player of the Week 07 - 13 April16 April 2008
This week’s shortlist reads like a who’s who of PKR’s Overall Tournament Rankings. No less than four of the top ten ranked tournament players earn a nomination, showing why they’re at the top of the tree. Let’s meet them all…
Shortlist
Dark87
Making his debut appearance on the shortlist this week, this Frenchman notched up 15 final tables in a productive week of poker. Currently sat third in the Overall MTT Rankings, Dark87 attacked the tournament schedule with gusto, multi-tabling a variety of events and emerging with two wins. He’s been on the PKR tournament scene since early February and I’m sure we’ll see more of this gentleman in the future.
farryboy
A former member of Team PKR at the GUKPT London and one of PKR’s tournament veterans, farry puts in the hours, showing more focus than Jabba or myself could jointly muster. He’s a regular at the death of any and every tournament, as he showed with an astonishing 20 final tables last week (a TPOTW record). Ranked #1 in the Overall MTT Rankings, he picked up two wins in Deep & Steep and shorthanded events within 24 hours, along with runner-up finishes in every type of HE variant we offer. True dedication to tournament play earns him our full respect!
gladheateher
A second nomination is given to this British fixture of the PKR tournament landscape. She occupies ninth in the Overall MTT Rankings, gaining three wins last week including victories in the $100 buy-in $4,000 GTD and the tough MTT Rankings Freeroll invitational. Six other final tables in a broad range of genres solidify her claims, not to mention back-to-back appearance at the monthly invitational Rankings Freeroll ! A $4,000 GTD specialist, we might even name a final table seat after her…
HansTeeuwen
Another contender emerges from the fiery crucible that is the Overall MTT Rankings leaderboard. The Dutchman, eighth in the rankings, racked up a win and 14 other final tables, notably a runner-up finish in the 09 April Terminator Bounty. He cites one hobby as ‘trying to dodge the PKR river’, so we can assume he’s obviously nimble on his feet! Good week, sir.
ravaelo
Having posted some solid results since his arrival at the start of the year, this fellow turned up the heat last week, reaching four final tables and winning two. A victory in the notorious $100 buy-in $4,000 GTD and a fourth place in the 07 April $10,000 GTD, outlasting 384 runners, stand out. A fine week of performances in some difficult events.
And the winner is…
It’s pretty close. On another day gladheateher would take it down for her repeated crushing of the tables, but she’ll create many future chances. I could talk for hours about the rest of the Rankings crew and their monstrous virtual trophy cabinet too. They’ll all receive multiple TPOTW nominations (some already have) and wins. Of that I have no doubt. However it’s the performances of ravaelo that caught my eye – deep finishes in the $10,000 GTD and $4,000 GTD take more than just good fortune. His conversion rate’s not bad either, winning two of his four final tables. Props on a deserved award!
GG and WP to all five. Check back here after the weekend for the lowdown on who’s hot on the tournament trail.
GL all,

PKR has recently announced an exciting satellite schedule to Leg One of the upcoming Asian Poker Tour. The season kicks off at the end of May in Manila, vibrant capital city of the Philippines, before passing through the exotic locations of South Korea, Macau and Singapore.
Asian Poker TourEach stop on the APT boasts a $2,500 (minimum) main event hosted by some of the Far East's most luxurious five-star hotels. Attended by the world's top pros, the tournaments will have prize pools in excess of $1million.
After the success of PKR's WPT, EPT and GUKPT satellites, we're delighted to be sending Team PKR further afield in search of championship titles. First stop - the Philippines!
ManilaWhile poker will be paramount, the four-day event will allow plenty of opportunity for sightseeing, shopping and partying. Manila is reknowned for it's bustling and cosmopolitan ambience, tropical climate, world-class diving and sizzling nightlife. The city also boasts incredible culinary diversity, a fascinating colonial past and some of the best value electronics in Asia. The APT has clearly chosen it's location wisely!
This tournament represents a unique opportunity to see the world through poker, and what better environment in which to play than a bustling, intriguing tropical paradise? Just as well then that we're guaranteeing at least three $5,000 packages to the first leg of the Tour. Check out the satellite schedule for full details and terms & conditions.
Playing for millions in LA, Vegas or Prague may have it's attractions, but I know where I'd rather be! For those who jump into our satellites, best of luck. For those lucky few who board the plane in search of an APT title, we're all green with envy...

The Tournament Trail 07 - 13 April14 April 2008
A look back at last week's MTT action reveals a number of familiar faces at our major final tables, along with some new stars on the PKR scene. Here's how the $95,000 in guaranteed prizes was won...
Monday - $10,000 GTDOutlasting 337 runners for the $2,910 first prize was mainstolz, who also came fifth in 21 March $10,000 GTD. Runner up sweplatte cashed for $1,746 having made the final table in 20 March $10,000 GTD. Fourth-placed ravaelo followed up his final table with a win in the 12 April $4,000 GTD. Fresh from a cash in the recent PKR Masters and a sixth in 06 April Sunday Classic, Zenturion found himself again at the final table, this time exiting in fifth.
Tuesday - $10,000 GTDA field of 358 took to the stage in search of a $10,000 title, with Bigdog111 emerging victorious. Italian Autekle filled the runner up position with darkside666 in third. Salmon-fishing aficionado Wildefish complemented his fifth in 19 March Terminator Bounty with a fourth in this event.
Wednesday - $10,000 GTD Terminator BountyThe ever-popular $10,000 variant boasted 405 entrants this week, with AlexeiR leaving with the lion's share - $2,621. The win was all the more impressive after his first place (earning more than $5,000) in the 05 April $20,000 Saturday Showdown. It's no surprise then that he smashed the previous termination record (14), notching 17 scalps on his way to victory. HansTeeuwen showed why he sits in eighth in the Overall MTT Rankings with a fine second-place finish.
Fresh from his demolition of Tigerrr in the PKRCast Heads Up Special, PKR_Jabba confirmed his status as most-feared bounty with another cash, this time finishing in 49th place despite eliminating no players! Nice, friendly poker Jabba....
Thursday - $10,000 GTDItalians continued to take no prisoners this week, with OKTAGON, fifth in 20 March $10,000 GTD, taking down the title and a $2,730 payday. Pompey resident Seanontheflop lost out heads up but left $1,638 richer to ease the blow. A final table in the 24 February Sunday Classic further boosts his recent form. After a sixth in 03 April $10,000 GTD, Frenchman Romano94 rose again through the rankings with a fourth place finish.
Friday - $10,000 GTDSwedish maestro Halvjanne added to his already impressive PKR resume, earning almost $3,000 and besting 393 opponents on his way to the title. With a $10,000 final table, and a fifth and a win in the Sunday Classic since the turn of the year, he may well have the best form on offer in 2008. Runner-up dassapoker banked $1,773 for his efforts with zakikarym filling third place after a third in 07 April $4,000 GTD.
Saturday Showdown - $20,000 GTDThe first of the weekend's major events saw 338 players vying for the $5,000 first prize and a Showdown title. It was Irishman GNU1985 who crossed the winning line to capture only his second MTT win on PKR. PKR regular TurkMaGurk added a runner-up finish (worth $3,000) to his 20 February $10,000 GTD Bounty win and 16th in the March PKR Masters. Third-placed mayotacker consolidated his reputation, with a $10,000 GTD second (29 February) and three consecutive $4,000 GTD final tables (29, 30 & 31 March) already this year.
Sunday Classic $25,000 GTDA field of 445 took their seats for another edition of PKR's second-most prestigious tournament, played out on every poker player's favourite night of the week. Brit marioandluigi occupied the top spot, receiving $7,231 for his efforts. Frenchman WILWIN44 took home $4,338 for second, improving on his previous fourth (09 March) and 16th (23 March) in the same event! Fourth-placed baCORdi continued his April hot streak following his win in 02 April $10,000 GTD Terminator Bounty.
Congratulations to all receipients of the big cash. With only two weeks to go until the third PKR Masters ($100,000 GTD for the first time), I expect all the major players to put in the hours, honing their game. This month's Master should win somewhere in the region of $30,000, so get stuck into those satellites soon!
Best of luck at the tables,
